thats too low for an fz.. i get around 45.. i usually dont get an opportunity to rip so that may be a reason.. what you can do is first check your mileage at the svc they have a special device kind of thing which helps you gauge your mileage.. if its too low then they may be able to help you.. but if it shows a mileage of >35 then your low mileage problem is because of your riding style..
best methods to get the best out of your fuel..
1. shift up early.. ideally around 4-4.5k..
2. effectively use engine braking rather than the actual brakes..

these are just the things i learnt from going through all the threads..i suggest you do the same..
i use shell petrol btw.. the usual one

In addition to the above points, I suggest check your tyre pressure often, lube your chain well & I dont hav much idea but I'v read in forums to get vehicles refuelled early morning instead of refuelling in afternoon.. Speed (B.P) or Power (H.P) works well for some bikes i guess since I use speed myself & get above 40 consistently on my FZ in mumbai traffic with occassional ripping upto 80-90 kmph.. Apart from considering to use speed petrol for mileage, I started using it for that noticable marginal increase in performance + good for engine in long run.. Worth a try dude, u can always switch back 2 normal petrol if not satisfied.

Dude
Check for High Fuel Mixture
Make sure u have your Tyres in Correct Pressure
Do Not Rip her - make it always under 60....
If you have Ripped her before the Run-in Period then im afraid you cannot get a good Mileage
By the way almost 90% of Fz and Fazers give only mileage of 30 - 35
So do not think too much about
If you are a Mileage Constraint - im sorry you wont get a good Mileage(above 50) from an FZ.....

wonder why fz were poor in mileage

i had a thought if we change that rear tyre to 100/90 or 110/80 section
will there any change?

I always change my gears in the following way:-
1st gear at 3k
2,3,4 gears at 3.5k
& 5th gear at 4k.
I always make sure that my gears are changed at the above metioned method.

& as you mentioned above that svc they have a special device i dont think my service center has 1 cause they never checked on that. They always ask me.

its not an actual device as it sounds to be..it just a cylinder which has graduations on it so required amount of petrol can be put in it..this cylinder is attached to the petrol tap and the normal petrol flow is stopped..trip meter is set and now they ask you to ride your bike till you are out of fuel.. the trip meter shows the distance run and hence you can calculate the efficiency.. are you sure you have not fiddled with the carb settings..?

thats because the petrol expands quicky (due its low thermal co-eff) and since petrol is measured by volume you end up getting less amount of fuel in the evenings compared to mornings.. it aint rocket science..
