I suspect the clutch switch fouling. What bike?I'm assuming the one from your signature.

Well brother my friend has a Discover 135 (without the digital gadgetry and all) and on that bike I have to pull in the clutch while thumbing the starter. I did find it strange but he said it's standard for this bike and I dropped the issue. Not completely sure about your bike though. Sorry.

well.. in the pulsars , you need to depress the clutch to start only if the bike is in gear.
Now since you are saying that the neutral light is also not functioning , I'm pretty sure the wire from the neutral sensor /or the sensor (not much of a sensor , just a switch ) is damaged.
You have mentioned you having used the bike for long. so probably the sensor is just stuck.

Even i guess the switch is the culprit but where is it located?

I thought it was obvious enough from the sig.

There are 2 switches you need to check out. One is on the clutch and the other is on the left side of the bike (you can see a wire going towards it ).
