  • Gear Shif Problem - FZ16

    Hi,

I have Yamaha FZ 16 Oct'08 Model (Gone around 13,000 Km till date), from the last couple of months I am facing few problems with its gear shifts ? It usually doesn't arise always but specially when Gear needs to be decreased (While Decreasing the Gears) Its stucks and I am unable to understand whats the exact problem. I asked the service engineers (Last Service - Oct09) about this they said its a temporary problem, but still its there !!!

Please help me out to solve this problem ? If there is any good mechanic available here in Delhi/NCR who can actually rectify this Problem do recommend it.

For service I usually visit to YAMAHA PRO SERVICE - Mathura Road, Delhi

Tightening the clutch cable will solve the problem.Reduce the clutch lever free play to a max of 5mm

That was easily solved!! How the service engineers didn't think of that one is a more serious problem...

                FZ 16 gear shift problem

I have the same problem with by bike 2009, worked fine for first 2000 kms. Workers (not mechanics) does not know how to solve it. They will test drive bike for 200 mtrs and say its fine. Yamaha engineer suggested to get torson spring and some parts replaced and were replaced free of cost. It worked magical for few days. And one fine day i took the bike from noida to gurgaon and back, perhaps it was enough for it and problem started again. I will surely try and learn to repair my bike myself and tightning the clutch. This bikes does not have anything except a fat tyre. It lacks power with pillion rider.
