  • [HELP]Need Tail bag for Yamaha R15 in India

    Hi guys,
    Need some help.

Can some one tell me where can I find such tail bags in India? It'll be great if they are available in Mumbai or Pune.

I was considering saddle bags but they become too big for a one day trip and also not that good from aerodynamics point of view.

I considered Cramster tank bag as well but then on R15 one has to crouch to get beyond 125kmph which is not possible with tank bags. Also tank bags tend to leave scratches on the tanks. So am keeping them as last option.

I really liked these bags and hence was wondering if they or something like that is available in India or not. I got these pictures from a foreign motorcycle accessory site..I think bikebandit.com I dont remember.

Please suggest me if such bags are available in India or not. Has anyone from Mumbai/Pune ordered it from outside India?

@MODS, Kindly approve this thread as I need one such bag very urgently. If you merge this post in some other existing thread then please leave me a PM with the link as I wont be able to locate it and it may cause delay. Thank you in Advance!

    Here are the pics...

Why not use any shoulder bag on the rear seat&secure it with bungee cords?
        Quench my thirst with gasoline!

I've been doing that for almost all my rides. I hate carrying stuff on my back like donkeys.. Attaching a couple of pics of the same..

But there are limitations on carrying stuff like that. Bungee cords exert too much pressure on the bag and hence carrying delicate stuff like camera, extra visor etc. goes out of question.

I along with 2 other x men attempted the IBA bun burner ride and during that ride faced some probs of using bungee cords. It's pain to remove the cord everytime to take out something. Also it consumes time. I wanted something where in I can readily take out stuff from the bag without hooking and un-hooking the bungee cord.

You will have to buy one of these abroad or if get it done as per your spec from a Bag manufacturer provided you have enough people who want to go for a similar bag

Ketan, I guess you can check out those Tail bags here

Only option for you would be to ask some one from USA to buy it when they come back to India. Good Luck

a simple solution for tail bag

buy the cramster tank bag. the bag comes with 4 D rings at the bottom. so what you need to do is to
go to a bag repair shop and get some custom straps made for it with different adjustment settings and a locking mechanism that you are comfortable with.it shouldnt cost you more than 50 rs .

PS: if you are not happy with the capacity ofthe bag then check out the DSG as well.DSG bags have more capacity and if they comes with D rings at the base then you can safely use them as tail bag.though i have never used a DSG bag so ,you need to check this out by yourself.

or get D rings stitched to your usual backpack.

here's a link to the pic:

i always wondered whythose D rings were provided. when i saw the pics of tail bag i felt that they are nothing but tank bags with D rings attached to the bottom and straps to secure it in place. guess i found a use for the D rings. now if i add removable straps to it ,it will function both as a tank bag and a tail bag within minutes!!! necessicity is the mother of invention LOL

thanx for ur suggestion and the link. Unfortunately I dont have anybody whose coming down from US any sooner.. So I guess the only option left is to do some mods on my own to the available bags.. Trying to get some more idea from the link you provided..

Well not that difficult actually.. Have tried climbing the bike with a big bag hooked by bungees on the back of the bike.. So uska tension nahi hai..

Finally got myself the Tail-Bag for my R15.
Excuse me for poor quality of pics.

It has got 2 side pockets with reflectors.

The flap on the top has a pocket for map and documents.

A netted pocket on the inside..

One more pocket on the side in which you can keep the spare belt/waterproof cover/keys etc.

The space inside. Space wise it's bigger than the cramster tank bag.

The bag can be expanded using the chain at the bottom to increase the space inside.

                        Bag and the waterproof cover.

I got this bag tailor made. I gave him the pics, overall design and the idea for clamps n all. The shopkeeper is planning to register the product on his name and will be selling it officially. Now finally am free of those bungee cords and the hassle of removing the cords everytime to take out even a small thing. wheww..

                              Thanx shivanshu,

Well the shopkeeper might sell this for around Rs. 1500-2000 per bag but since I took the initiative, gave him the idea n all he sold it to me at a very discounted price

To be frank, I bought this bag especially for my next big ride. I might hit the road in the first week of Feb so the review will be out very soon. But AFAIT, the bag hold firmly and shouldn't pose any problem.

Infact, I had to ask him to make a few changes to make the bag stable. I had to alter the belt size and clamps. I rode around 10-15 kms last night with the bag in it's place on the rear seat and even after riding through potholed roads, bag held it's position.
