Did the bike happen to go through a crash/tip-over to the left side coz my friend's FZ had and such is the design of the gear shifting mechanism that the part that takes the first hit in case of a mishap is the gear shifter. Do check if it is bent due to falling over and get that rectified/replaced.
A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel.

Take the bike to the service center and get it checked up, ya it might have been due to a fall, better let the mechanics take a look and tell you

            dude..
even i have the same problem.. but it shifts perfectly in higher rpms i dont know why.
also try to lubricate the joins of the lever there would be 3 joints before the lever connects to the gear box. you should get some relief. i have complained multiple times to the service centre but the problem isnt corrected. also if you use a shoe, shifting is much easier. i guess the foot has to be in a particular position to shift perfectly.
            Regardless, Life shall go on.
