  • Sound in Apache RTR 180

    Hi,

I have an Apache RTR 180. I have noticed that the engine makes a humming sound when running. I have showed it in the service center and they opened the gear box and checked it to make sure nothing is broken. They mentioned that they will get one of the engineers from the TVS showroom to check it soon. My bike is just 3 months old and i shall complete 3 months with it on this weekend. The service center guy suggested that any since the bike is under warranty i could get it checked and there should be no charges. I recently noticed that when i go on the fifth gear, it initially makes a weird sound as though there is some dust or garbage gone in the engine. The sound stays for a few seconds and then goes away

I would like a second opinion on what could be the cause of this sound and how i should resolve this issue. I am due for my second servicing in a weeks time.

    Please advise

I really wonder how you had interpreted the noise!!

About the humming sound, is it coming from somewhere else apart from the engine.Check the rear disc brake assembly for any noise.

Well yes i understand that the interpretation of the sound is off. However it is like a humming sound that comes from the engine. I had checked it with another 180 side by side at the service center. The other one didnt have the humming sound.

So it is definitely in the engine, so what could be a reason, as the mechanic opened the gearbox in front of me and showed the sound it was making.
