Keep practising and analyzing where you are making a mistake. And think of ways by which you could have avoided doing those mistakes. How you should have taken the corner, how you should have braked, how much you should have braked. Implement it when the next time you ride.
In the incident you mentioned, you fell down because you were not confident that you could control the bike. The only way to build up confidence is to face the same situation head on again and again until you feel comfortable with it.
It's all about knowing the bike and it's capabilities. Select one of your friend's bike and spent time with it knowing how much you need to brake, how much you need to throttle up or throttle down, how much to turn the bike into a corner. Dont be afraid to stop for a while if the traffic gets very thick.
There is only one way to overcome your fears. And that is to face it.

      Hey buddy,

I had a similar story like yours, i learnt riding a bike and i would always lack self confidence in starting off the bike and slowing in traffic.

To overcome this fear of your, try the 3 main aspects of biking,
      1) Clutch Control
      2) throttle
      3) braking

To start of the bike, the combination of 1 and 2 is important and to navigate in traffic 1,2 and 3 together are important.

Its fairly simple to ride the bike in the top gear, where you need to keep an eye only on the roads. But the actualy thing is to learn riding in traffic and different conditions.

The best way to learn these aspects are to ride the bike slowly.
1)Try starting off the bike from 0-20 or 0-30 and slowly stop it again with proper gear shifts on empty roads.
2)Learn clutch control, by riding slow (like a 20 on 2nd gear) on empty roads and try to use clutch to prevent bike from stalling.
3)Never panic or try to push off in a hurry from a traffic signal even if people around are honking.Remember, you are a learner, you have the right to take you own time on the roads
      4) All here at xBHP were not born riders...all have learnt it, and most of them must have stalled in traffic during the learning days...so dont worry, but practise and be safe....

      Cheers!!

took a TD of R15 yesterday but only for 100mts or so that too upto 2nd gear.
found it very powerful(compared to the Splendor I was Learning on), the front disc was also very powerful. Since it was the first 150cc for me, was a bit afraid so didn't took it to the Main road, rode it just around the Showroom.
the 2mins I spent with the Bike felt awesome
