Sharing 2 cents of what I've come across, not my experience though.

Amarons are good batteries than any batteries in India. However, they would need right set of volt to get them charged that not many bikes are equipped with (atleast not my Rx). So they have a very gradual charging time. In any local garage mechanics opinion, "go for exide maintenance batteries".

PS - I personally love maintenance free batteries, I hope experts opinions flowing in this thread will help me

Am using Amaron 9ah on my Unicorn whereas stock battery was 7ah.

Replaced the battery 3 times under warranty within 10months, all thanks to my experiments

Amaron performs well, even if not you have 30months replacement warranty and 30months pro-rate basis replacement. So its complete VFM. Thumbs Up for Amaron.

Yes, Amaron batteries are VFM whether its for car or bike. Go for it.

Hi,
I am using Exide on my Activa and they are working just fine for the past 3 years. No idea about Amaron. Sorry.

Actually, I suggest you go in for a maintenance-free battery. They are now available for bikes.

@sand_sat - Just speak to few experts who side with Exide to find out the pitfalls of Amaron & then lets see what can be done to overcome those pitfalls to fix Amaron.

Ok heres my experience with Amaron.
Had got my battery in the month of Aug '09, worked well for around 10 days, was replaced thrice after that. Finally Amaron has worked on it and the new 'lot' has no problems what so ever, Got the 4th one last month and no issues at all. Id recommend Amaron any day for the complete VFM they offer (Read 30+30 month warranty)

I recently topped up my Exide battery came along with Unicorn at a local shop. He was also a dealer for Amaron. When inquired about fitting Amaron 9ah to my bike, he said that there is no room to place the 9ah as they are slightly bigger than that of the 7ah.

Could you please let me know how were you able to get 9ah placed in that batt compartment?

To my understanding, a stock battery will have the X voltage as input for charging the 7aH battery, so when you replace it with a 9aH battery, it should require X+Y voltage as input. Is this right?

Not always, the voltage that is supplied for charging depends on the requirement of the battery and also on the capacity of the charger. Lets not forget that the unit delivers around 13.5 V when required.

Lets not confuse Volts with amperes. all of the modern day two wheelers run on 12 v ac or dc set up. Amperes here might change pertaining to vehicles. I have successfully plonked a 9ah battery in place of 7ah stock battery in my Zma, with absolutely no issues.

@ Sriram Efunds: a hammer and chisel can set a lot of things going. Try some work yourself and believe me, it would bring you more satisfaction.

9ah is under seat in Shreeni's bike.. If u want to Mod U need to do some Jugaad

May be he will be able to help you more in detail with how could he accomodate it under seat.

Thanks, that gives an overview. Also, I can recall something on 13.5V stuff that Amaron requires about 14V as incoming while most bikes deliver only 13.5 & they also said the life of the battery deteriorates even if the V is more than 14. Is this true?
