  • Good Honda Unicorn Service center in Chennai

    Hi

I have 2005 model Unicorn and need help to find a good service center. Earlier I used to leave the bike at Didar Motors for service (from where I bought the bike). The service is pretty normal and have not found anything exiting. Though I did not have much complain about the bike, however, it was all the while the same as how it used to be after the a week of service.

Then tried with Kun Honda at Ashok Nagar. I had very bad experience with the service. I felt like just been water washed and nothing better done to enhance the performance.

Having said the above, went to reliable mechanic in Royapettah (where I get to sort small issues with my Yamaha) to check and tune the bike at my presence.

Though the guy whom I know for sometime, have always been serviced in front of me. Nowadays, I find it difficult to take off from work to spend at the workshop there. Not very keen in leaving the bike with him for service.

Hence planning to leave the bike at the service station.

Taking about the service station, I did search the forum, either I missed out to spot or there is in't any for this topic discussion.

Chennai xbhpians suggest me an authorized service station where I can leave the bike for service where they do decent job. It's been a while since I have shown my bike for service, have toured couple of trips in mean team have changed the engine oil at appropriate time.

Not sure about the service station, but try this apporach, it should work.
When the mech starts working (that is when he starts opening up your vehicle), just stay with him, talking to him generally ask some question (ignorantly) on the parts & other things. Trust me, you'll be satisfied with your service. I know it takes time, but you need to enjoy seeing your vehicles parts as well

Oh!!! well, don't forget to take the permission with the "friendly" manager/supervisor to allow you inside the floor workshop.

The otherside is, you'll also learn how to service your bike.

Alternatively, if you enjoy greese & oil, buy a workshop manual for Unicorn from the A.S.S. It should come with a price, but its worth taking it.

It is not that easy to get access to workshop floor to have direct supervision. Trust me, most of the Supervisors/Managers might not feel comfortable.

First, I would need to identify a good A.S.S for Unicorn. The whole idea of have this thread opened is to find out a decent service center from our fellow chennai xbhphians.

        Any suggestions?

@Sriram Bro- Just the word pretty normal makes me want to go to Didar motors now. From the first service i've been searching for a Good SS and Still no luck. I used to give my bike to my local mechanic, just to avoid that Service from SS which just feels like a water Wash. When u Find a Good SS, Do tell me too..
BTW, may be OT, but do u know anyplace in Chennai where u can Get Petronas oils. Recomend me Some Good oil other than that for Uni..

Planning to try Didar next month with my fingers crossed.

As far as I know Petronas Oil are not available in Chennai. Infact I'm currently running my bike with that which I got it from Bangalore.

Other than Petronas, would recommend Motul 5100 Semi-Synth or if fully synth would suggest you to go for Motul 300v.

Since Motul is expensive have shifted to Petronas. Gosh! I'm running out of stock. Soon will need to change the oil. Will need to get it from Bangalore.

(My RX is running on Motul 5100 and the engine is butter smooth.)

Why? Is Motul not available in Chennai?

Motul is very much available. I know their factory godown in Ramapuram.
Petronas is not available as far as I have done some search. If you can let me know where it is available would be appreciated.

@SriramEfunds: I am not sure if you would be able to reach to Poonamalle. I tried Surya Honda there and am satisfied (for my Aviator). They call back in a day to check if the service done is good enough and you satisfied/not and to see if we have any issues. And they send SMS when your next scheduled service is coming in next week. Pretty satisfied with them. I am not sure if this followed across all A.S.S of Honda.

Also people dont go that far from City limits and so they are not crowded with bikes lined up for service (unlike the Kun at Adayar). .
