  • My pulsar150 dtsi struggling to go

    Hey guyz,

I own a Pulsar 150 dtsi 2006 model, I have done 35000 km on the bike.
I do the sericing regularly. I go out for full throttle long drives 3-4 times a month...

But since last month I am facing few problems with the bike. The main problem is that it makes more noise than running...
Also I dont feel the earlier power.... and quick response..
Also there seems something blocking the engine...

On my way back from lonavla last week, I asked a local mechanic at panvel... and he sayz that I have to change the clutch plate....

Then another one says... the clutch plate is OK..

I dont know what to do...

How will I know whther the clutch is really giving a problem... or not...

Besides clutch plate what else should I check so that ma baby starts doing those 120 kmph again

IMO, the bike has survived successfully for last 3 years with the rips which is a good sign. Take it to A.S.S, sit with along with the mech & check what is the problem instead of simply trusting the A.S.S.

Hey guys I had changed the clutch plates and the bike was doing well. Until last week..

Again I am facing the same problem...
Last week had a trip to Malshej Ghat... was good while climbing the ghats. But suddenly there was some problem while coming back... And bike was just revving and not accelrating

I rode the bike in same condition for about 20-25 km as had no option of a mechanic on that stretch of road. The bike was revving at 8k on the meter and speed was barely 60kmph.
Finally I found a mech and he said that clutch plate is gone bad
I told him that the clutch plate was replaced just a 300km earlier.
Also when I parked the bike at his place there was smoke coming from the engine.
The mechanic took out all the oil and also loosened the clutch cable.
waited for the engine to cool down.
I was shocked to see the Motul oil turned dark black in just 300 kms. It was a sign that my engine was overheated....

Now he put back the same oil and fixed the clutch cable back. He took the bike for testing and while he comes back says that everything is fine.

But on my way back I felt that my bike is not gooin the way It used to earlier. It seems that the engine is revving more than it should be for a stipulated speed. if i give a sudden twist of throttle the rpm goes up but there is abs no immediate response in speed

As I had changed only the clutch plates and my mech had told me that no need to changing the pressure plates, friction plates.
Is der any need to change the whole assembly.

Also should I go for performance clutch lates. does average KMPL decrease or increase wid it?
                  Any other suggestions are welsome.
Please help me guys I am really frustated as Have to go on a long trip next month and want my bike in the topest condition.

im guessing you need to replace the clutch springs, and change the oil also if its gone too black or dirty.

well, the oil turns black even if you ride for 1 km after changing it,there's no problem with it, it's perfectly normal..so don't panic..only thing is that the oil should not lose its viscosity, and it wouldn't have..just go and check it..as for the clutch plates, may be the friction plates have gone bad and hence they are ruining the plates over and over again..so go for a complete change of friction and clutch plates again and the springs..i know it's a bit costly but since you seem to get the optimum, you need to spend..besides don't forget to get your carb tuned too coz that might also reduce performance when you go for the trip..happy riding

                        Thanx for info Shubanker
How much estimate would it cost?
The last time I changed clutch plates and had new oil cost me 600 bucks

well i don't have any idea coz i don't own a pulsar..but in that much money, i don't think you can get genuine clutch plates and oil..so go for genuine plates and change the oil after 500 kms of riding coz new plates pollute the oil initially..

If you havtn changed the plates till date then i wld suggest go for it
they r neways close to being replaced neways.
                            Chck out the diaphgram/Carb setting/Valves

Faced a similar problem: suffocating engine and no show
Mech tuned it, changed the diaph and it was perfect

If thr is something obvious then there wont be a mix of opinions between mechs.
