  • P150: Self start is making loud cranking noise

    guys,
    I have a P150/ UG3/ 1.5 years and 20K kms old..

during At last service in castrol a week back, I switched to NGK G-Power spark plugs..
since then, whenever I crank my bike using self start, It gives a loud strange khut-khut noise. once the bike starts, then it runs pretty smooth, thanks to new spark plugs..

I have tried kick couple of times, and no noise there. The sound loudness keeps varying everytime i crank.
Last time I took it to SC and tried o crank the bike.. and start was smooth.. no sound.. LOL!! I tried 3-4 times, but not able to show the problem..

any idea, what Might be the reason??

I know, I could have posted at P150 ownership thread.. but this is not P150 specific problem and hope to get a responce from P180/P200/P220 etc too..

        1. Do you have access to your old plugs? Did you try fitting them & check if the cranking noise disappears?
        2. If not try with some other regular (good one is OE plug from A.S.S or some other Pulsar 150 CC from Castrol) to check the cranky noise
        3. Check the self motor assembly or coil & the most important one - battery charge

              Sniper

Go to a authorized service centre and ask them to check the Starter clutch assembly & change the clutch roller kit if necessary.

its a bush used in between starter motor and engine/crank. pulsar manual says it should be replaced at regular intervals, though nobody cares to do so. get it checked.
