  • Tyres and the R15...

    Hi guys,
k, i kno what you all are thinking right nw, - another newbie looking for fatter tyres for the R15, but NO... - I want to know whether there are other better tyres out there, with the exact SAME tyre size, which would probably give a better grip.. My tyres are starting to feel a bit worn out, just completed 14k kms. It's not that i'm not happy with the stock tyres performance, they are pretty awesome alright, but since it's anyways time to change it, is there something better out there - pirelli, dunlop anythin?? I don't mind shelling out a few extra grand ( not a LOT of grand though ). Help me out guys..

    keep rocking..

Why don't you try the TYRES section. I know its a hell of a job to go through all the pages. But you can pick up a lot of knowledge in the process.

hey guys, there are a few pics of tyres posted on this page.. the first IRC posted is an 100/80.. though they didn mention the rim size.. is it a direct fit on the R15?? worth it or not worth it??

Mods, kindly delete this thread or move it into the tyres universal thread... All trusted xBhp members suddenly seem to be too busy to answer a 'newbies' thread... And it's not that I've been too lazy to read through the universal threads, i've been in and out in detail almost all universal threads out there... all i can conclude is that it's the 'newbie' tag which makes other members decide whether to reply or not.. well, i wasn't expecting a hardcore reply either, a simple yes or no would have answered the question...
            *sigh*
            adios...

Spit_fire, I would advise you not to get flustered about people not answering your query outright. There are times when folks don't come across certain threads and thus skip answering rather than 'overlook' answering. And trust me, it has nothing to you being a newbie infact I don't believe in the concept of a newbie. We are all progressing on our own individual learning curve, with the passage of time. So relax

Now as far as your query is concerned, guys look at replacing their stock with the R-15's rear, and you are thinking the other way around! You have a superb handler with fantastic grip in that rear tyre of yours. If I were in your shoes, I would not think of a replacement. Having already done 14k ,those soft compund tyres have almost reached their limit. So just have them replaced with the same, and enjoy hassle free riding.

..And your queries are most welcome, so shoot

The R15 tires are the best available indian tires. Nothing can replace it.
The Battlax will cost 3 times and its a full race tire. There is nothing superior to the R15's FY and S patterns in India.
We have set some lap records at the track with these tires. Hatts off to Yamaha for pulling this off with MRF and its so affordable as well.

Thanx a lot guys, almost gave up hope there for a while!!.. well, i guess i would rather stick to the stock tyres for now.. don't get me wrong, i kno they're THE best out there but was just thinking...
neways guys, i have one more query and hope u'll help me out, though its not related to tyres, but i don't want to start another thread now.
my speedometer console stops working when its wet. as in, when it rains or after i take it for a wash. the sensitivity varies though. it can get through the hardest of rains at times and it might stop working after a small wash. i took it to yamaha svc and they said i'll hav to pay 3k for a new console, they rfused warranty.. can i get them to replace it under warranty?? is there any simple solution to this problem??

                    thanx a lot guys,
                    and this time i'll wait..

                              Hey dude,
I got a the rear stock tyre fitted in the front and in the rear fitted a 120 tubeless, yes these tyres are not fatter though but found it brilliant, better handling and better stability, these tyres are available in MRF and have the same look and feel !
