I would advise you to change to new barrel for better performance.

        Hi Guys,

No updates. Got busy with studies. Just got a good contact to Yamaha Dealership owner. Let's hope he can source the original bore kit and piston.

In the meantime, going tomorrow, to get the side mirrors and lever rubber thingys.

The shocks of the bike are completely gone, the front shocks especially. If I press down on it, it stays that way.

The battery is slowly coming back to life. The horn now works sometimes. Mixed only 20ml or oil per litre of petrol, since the oil pump is working fine.

Things I am not touching right now

        -Barrel
        -Piston
        -Piston Rings
        -Reeds
        -Clutch

Will get all of these done when I have the new barrel and piston.

I read somewhere that I can use pulsar disc assembly, that it's a direct fit. What does that mean exactly? Do I buy the grey lower part of fork of a pulsar and use that? Then I can attach a disc brake to it? Can I also replace the shocks in the process?

          Hi Kogu,

Great to see you building up your Yamaha. By the way I am in Indore and just did a complete rebuild of my RX100. Shyam Scooter is a good place for parts but that guy over prices things a bit. I know another place for all genuine parts, let me know next time you want to get parts. as for the barrel there are 3 options.

          1. Get a new Daimond block piston kit.. 1500 Block + 550 Piston

          2. Get a rebore done ( depends on current piston size ) 50/- rebore + 550/- Piston

          3. Get a OEM kit 5800/-

          Check out my rebuild Thread

          http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/thumpers...d-must-go.html

Pulsar Disk is a Direct fit (5000/- + Labor), with little or no modifications, however I suggest to be with normal breaks or go for Apache disk, it looks great. I know someone who can do this.

          Happy Restoring!

            Hey timsy911,

I did go through the whole thread of yours. It was a fascinating read. It's great to finally meet someone from Indore. Can you recommend a good mechanic? And also can you tell me more about this another place?

I am going today to buy a few small parts. Nothing major. I will prefer the OEM block and piston kit. Will stick to normal brakes for now till I do further research.

@all, I have read that I can install a 5 speed barrel and piston, and would not have to change anything else. Is that true? Is it a direct fit?

PS: Sorry for so many questions, this is my first 2-stroke and only one I have ever ridden.

                Hi Guys,

@timsy - I have seen Ahuja. I will go there the next time.

So I took a 100km trip today to Tincha Falls and Choral River early in the morning. The bike was awesome, the acceleration is mind blowing. I wonder how it will be with a new piston etc.

The bike performed awesomely. The last 30km we travelled back non stop at 70km/h. I wanted to check whether the engine was overheating or not. When we reached, I sprinkled some water and it made a fizzling sound, which meant that the water was evaporating. Is the engine overheating?

                Here are some pics...
