  • problem with my karizma tappet

    hi friends,
my karizma is having some problem with the tappet (i guess so) thats what the mechanics where saying, the sound comes on early morning startup and when taking the bike from a long rest. the sound is like tuk tuk tuk tuk.......nd the engine shuts off soon on idling, the rpm lies below 1....and after may be around 5kms run.....everything is fine.

i have fixed a 2 piece for my bike nd on riding when i leave my both hands.....the handle along with the wheel seems to wobble.

    friends please give advice.
    thanks in advance.

can't say this by not checking the bike.
But one thing you can do try to check the sound from where it is coming.More precisely,
is it coming from engine head side or from clutch housing side?
if it is coming from engine head side then you will need to adjust the tappet, it might be loose.
If it is coming from clutch housing side then might be some problem in clutch housing pinion.
what engine oil you are using and how old is your bike??
as per your query you are having problem in early morning start up.
      Do one thing
without turning on the ignition kick start your bike 10 times (It will help to flow the engine oil in engine). then turn on the choke for 10 seconds and turn it off then turn on the ignition and kick start your bike.
and take your bike to SVC or to a good mechanic for your wobbling matter. It might be problem with your front shocker T....
      give the update........

        thanks sunny.

i will be doing as written. my bike is 2006 model. on a long run the sound does not come. and i'm getting a very good mileage too.

When kick starting the bike at times i find a puf of white smoke coming out of my silencer. i use castrol power 1....for my bike but they get dried up realy fast..may be in arond 1000kms.
i heard the white smoke would be due to wear in oil rings...is it a major problem..???

        thanks in advance.

I would like to say I have the exact problem in my 2005 ZMA which has clocked 34,000km. Well, my clutch kit is brand new. just 2k done.
I get this repeated KATAK KATAK sound whenever I start in the morning and while going back home. ( long intervals of stopping).
After around 2kms of riding, the sound's gone.
The sound is from the Engine head. I will check the tappets and let u guys know.
Well, I have few other problems as well.
          1. There are 2 tubes under the chasis which is for overflow. One of the tubes constantly leaks PETROL. even when the bike is on side stand.
          2. My engine has become so rough this month. After around 15kms of riding, Its almost impossible to downshift gears. Engine heats up very badly.
          3. My mileage has dropped to 26kmpl from a constant 40-42kmpl. I also got the carb cleaned last month.
          4. The pick-up has decreased a lot.
My throttle cable, choke cable are all fine.
          5. Idle screw on the carb sometimes doesnt stay in one position. Looks like its lost its thread.

I'm confused. I have raised this issue on the ZMA/ZMA-R thread but nobody bothers to reply there.
Can someone help out here?? PLEASE

As you said Coplay your engine getting rougher and produces too much heat it might be a problem with valve and cam shaft in engine head.
It can be a problem with improper adjustment of timing chain.
Go to svc or any good reliable mechanic and tell them the problems and tell them to check the cam shaft, valve, oil seal, timing chain adjustment.....
I had same problem with my hunk.
changed the cam shaft,valve.... the problem never occurs.
and dude in this period try to ride your bike within 40-60kmph.otherwise it could cause a big problem on engine piston. and don't rip it too hard..
              give the update....

As you are saying that you get white puf of smoke when kick start the bike first.
The white smoke is usually come because of the piston and when petrol comes into piston instead of engine oil...
check the bike thoroughly dude to svc or a good reliable mechanic....
                points to check:
                1) engine head valve clearance
                2)valve condition
                3)engine head bearing condition
4)oil seal(check if it is broken or loose)
                5)cam shaft
6)check is the engine oil coming sufficiently to the cam or not??
7)check the silencer clearing or de-carbonize the silencer
8)check the spark plug(is engine oil coming to the plug or not??)
9)fill petrol from a good petrol pump(do not use adulterated petrol )

in this period don't rip your bike, try to ride within 40-60 kmph

                give update...
