  • Pulsar 150 classic overhaul

    Hi friends,
I own a Pulsar 150 Classic. It has clocked 63000kms and now it needs an engine overhaul.
    My query is:
Is it possible to have a forged piston(like ones in R15) kit for Pulsar 150 classic, as in YZF-R15. or any custom piston kit available for Pulsars. Will it be possible to fit another 150cc bike's piston kit like HH or Unicorn,.... in my bike with some modifications.

    Query Approved.

Any reason for this experiment? Better to sold the classic pulsars, when they lived their life.

The piston will fit as long as the diameter is the same and the con rod can fit. You cannot really decide whether it fits or not here[unless someone has already done it]. You have to try it out. There were people running ZEN and esteem pistons in over bored bikes

Man how can you even say that? This guy obviously wants to keep the bike. Then why flood the tracker with useless posts?

I guess, he wants to know, that as he is going to get a new piston anyway, is there a better way/performance available?

            my opinion:
            - stick to stock.
            - get it done from a very big service center (preferable bajaj service only) who has daily intake of plenty of vehicles.. so that he is experience enough for such kind of jobs..
yes Bajaj Service Centers suck at servicing.. but for parts replacement, I think, bajaj people are best bet.

If your crank , connecting rod and bearings are ok then go for stock piston and bore kit.The new pistons have anti friction coating and better balanced.Always stick to stock form, unless you have money to spend and expertise to carry out modifications.( the headache of parts needing alteration),and plenty of time to do it .Just my opinion.

Thanks guys for your valuable posts. I have done the overhaul, quiet sometime back costed some 5000 Rs including chain,... other things.

P.S: Sold the bike for 15000 Rs. My heart was crying when I said her last Goodbye, I gave her a good wash and wax before delivery as her farewell.
