  • Types of Yamaha RX135 bores/cylinders

Can someone please explain me the differences between various types of cylinders (bores) like E1, E2, E3, E4.

I own a 1998 Rx135, it has run 50K Kms till now. I got the rebore work done by a mechanic here in Bangalore but the guy changed the bore without even informing me. I think I had E2/E3 bore with me but now its E4.

Also, please let me know how to identify ART pistons. Are there any markings/numbers on the piston?

    Thanks in advance.

      I don't know what that "E" signifies; But 4TL00 means 132CC 4 speed 12BHP & 4TL10 refers to 132CC 5 speed 14BHP. I'm not sure on "E" because a friend of mine & I've same bores (132CC 4 speed 12BHP) however mine is E3 while my friend's is E1.

You can identify ART piston by looking underneath the piston to lookout for ART embossed. It comes with Yamaha box.

I have heard that E signifies the production batch however, not sure about it.

^^ e is either the production batch or the metallurgy of the bore. Also in some cases it is used to identify, which batch rings/piston should be used with which bore. This is generally specified in the workshop manual of the bike.

Generally the identification is on the left side, like aargee said - 4TL00, 4Tl10 etc.

Thank you all for the reply. I was thinking more like 'E' stands for Escorts, am not sure.

And yes E4 is the latest cylinder available.

I am planning to buy the new cylinder for RX100. What are all the types of cylinders OEM avail like G-1 I have now in my 96 model.

Which one is the best OEM cylcinder for RX100? in Power?

There should ideally be no difference.. its the matching of series that you need to be careful about. so if a g series cylinder has to be matched with a g series piston ( just guessing ), then you will have to be careful about that.

This information can be gathered from a rx100 workshop manual.

Is this a riddle or a question really? Reason is, the OE piston don't imprint their name any where in the pic you've shown. All I could make out is, its running on 3rd oversize.

                        Hi ,

If iam not wrong from the picture it is 2nd over size piston marking 0.5 which means .50 mm oversize

piston marking .50 and arrow mark indicating exhaust orientation.
