P220 rear disc Brake problem.

    P220 rear disc Brake problem.

    Hi all,

    My p220dtsi's rear disc lost its bite/braking ability completely after first service. Already it had poor performance. The service supervisor said it may be due to Teflon material gone into it during teflon coat..and will become normal after some time..

    Now my rear disc is totally useless.

    Can I make it more aggressive like the front disk by adjusting some settings myself?

    Any one have done this please help me.

      I've seen P220 owners stating that the rear disc brakes are not that strong compared to the front. So they may have to pour in their suggestions.

      On an other thought, Teflon coating on rear disc brakes??? Is that what is the A.S.S is saying? If you've a new bike then I would suggest you to escalate this issue to Bajaj Auto. The A.S.S cannot simply give this highly unacceptable answer. But one question, how come the A.S.S did a teflon coating after first service? Aren't they supposed to do it on new bikes just out of showroom?

        During Teflon Coating, the SC guys spray Diesel, on rims and engine. Which makes the Disc brakes, especially rear ones useless for some time. To get the bike fast, try holding your rear brake for continuously for say about 10-15 seconds while you accelerate. By the time you do that for the 3rd time, you should be feeling the brakes again.

            I have asked them to do teflon during the first service since it was not done during purchase. Any way I will try the technique below.
            If its not working I will do as u directed.

            I will try that.
            Service guys should have done that though.

            I was even not satisfied with the factory settings of the rear brake.
            Any methods to further improve the braking performance?
            at least 80% of the front brake will be cool.

            Any advantage on adding an ABS on rear/front?

              or you can buy a new set of pads costing 120 bucks and follow the "press and depress the brake lever quickly in succession " method (sorry for the long name )...hence unequal grooves will form on the pads which makes your braking efficient.

              just pressing your lever and staying like that only smoothens up the pads and therefore no braking effect.

                    I guess he is talking about Safe Ride ABS. A very basic sort of system but helps a bit in avoiding locking up.

                      Yes the same, small equipment that costs around 1200, heared that it will almost avoid locking...

                      Is this worth the money spend?


                      Is there a way to adjust the disk brake bite like the old drum brakes?
                      (like adjusting a screw) so that I can improve the rear disc further to match the front's performance

                        thats really good for the price...
                        can anyone tell me more about them and how they work and how they are installed...
                        i would love to get 1 for the front disc... hate it when front wheel locks up and skids...
