    [Help]: Gearbox oil for RX100

    Guys,

    I have been using the Castrol oil for my RX100 (gerabox) and it is good upto 700 kms and the gear shift was nice. after crossing the 700 kms ,gear change/shift was very hard especially when the bike was running after 20 mins ...

    Also if am running 4th gear with 20kmph then the engine noise like "Grinding machine" sound and feel. So I thought of changing the oil to best one like Motul 300V.

    I got the dealer for Motul in chennai and he specified the price around 750 per litre.

    Guys please let us know your experience for RX100 gearbox oil and which is best. In motul which specific one I have to go like 300V FL (SAE 10w40) ?

    Mod please approve my thread since am desperately looking for RX100 engine oil.

      Castrol is the best

      Hey Buddy,

      Even i have been using Castrol oil for my yami and i am not facing any problems so far. I dont feel that there is any need to change the oil. Better get your engine checked for the grinding noise.

          I suspect the OIL only since initially there was no such noise and felt gear shift was very smooth.

          When I start the bike, gear shift is easy and after sometime like 10-15 mins if I ride 60kmph then gear shift will go to hard especially 4th gear.

          upto how much kms I can use the Castrol Oil?

            In which gear and at what speed do you actually hear the noise ??

              Should you be told that the problem is due to gearbox and would need to change the oil.

              I would suggest you to go for Motul 5100 ( semi synthetic). I'm using for my RX. It is very smooth and gear shift performance is really good.

              It costs around 380 and its pocket friendly.

              I would not go for Fully Synthetic Motul 300v unless if you want to.

                Motul, fine; but for how many KM's without gearbox oil change?

                  1) One of the gears 'cog' is worned out or balded.
                  2) The gears are not properly mated to each other, this causes some hissing sound at certain rpm and speed.

                  You can use any Xw40 grade oil, change the oil every 2k kms.

                    +1; could be; that's the same issue I'm facing too; change the mainshaft in the gearbox.

                      Here the problem...

                      When I start the engine in Cold start

                      1. First Gear shift "Jadak" sound is coming....only after immediate cold start (This issue coming from the begining of the Oil change)
                      2. Gear Shift is smooth first 10-15 mins and very hard in 4th gear I meant the engine getting warm up or if I go speed @ >60 km then gear shift goes very hard.
                      3. In traffic if I ride in 3rd or 4th gear in <=20 km, I feel on my leg that "Grinding machine" not the noise but I can feel it but if go above 30km I am not.

                      I have checked the oil level and quality @ shell petrol pump they said it is good and now I have completed 1600kms.

                      This issue is coming after >700 kms only. What could be the issue?

                        get your clutch adjusted man.... seems like a problem with clutch not the oil...

                          I'm experiencing 1&2 always; nothing to worry as I've been riding like this for several 1000 KM's (now 4300 Kms after a general service!!!). So next time when you start the motorcycle, run the motor in idle for nearly a minute & when doing so, hold the clutch; now when you apply the 1st gear it will be butter smooth.

                          I know I've to change the main shaft, but I'm unable to get one; they're saying it comes as assembly that costs 1000+; even if I'm ready to pay for the assembly, I'm unable to get one as it is 5 speed;

                            what could be the reason? Clutch? Main Shaft? Oil ? or Gear ?
