  • [Photo Feature]: problems with RTR EFI

    Hi Team,

I need some real help here guys with my Rtr Efi. there are so many problems to list out. i am greatly worried as i am not able to understand the problem myself. I own a RTR efi. it is about 18 months old and currently clocked 20000kms.
first of all its a great pleasure owning such a bike. Boy! you've gotta say when you open the throttle, the response is such great that you automatically start to smile with excitement. become a fan of this bike ever since.
Here are some of the problems i dont seem to get the hang of :

1, ever since i got this bike, it has always jerked in all gears (the kinda sensation you get when your petrol gets over). even though you open the throttle the bike seems to respond late, i am guessing this this is the key problem for low mileage on my bike. lately i am gettingonly around 25-30 kmpl even on rides at speed of 45-50kmph. this problem is recurring. the bike seems to work fine as if there is no problem the very next moment it jerks as if something major wrong in the bike. i know its not the issue with less petrol as i never ride in Reserve. kindly help guys, i wanna get rid of this problem asap. yep now even i have noticed the response has deteriorated because of above problem. i open the throttle but bike never moves forward as quick at should at the revs. the engine is revving but something is blocking the bike from speeding. i feel like its a 100 cc bike. no matter how hard you push, its never seems to repond as it should do. the best part of my bike is missing. i likd the feel of the response and the ride when i used to rip open the throttle. probably this is one helluva bike at its peak best it can match any other bike from 0-80km easily. (i read one of Rennycornelius' post about EFi. i want to read the post once again, but dunno where to find it again. )
my mechanic is telling me that there is lot of carbon accumulation in the head. i had cleaned it just a month ago. till last weak the bike was very smooth, but again the jerking problems almost everyday.

2, does changing the tyre size have any major effect of mileage. i recently changed my rear tyres to a tubeless Pirelli 110/90-18. the grip is awesome and i didn't find it hurting my sprocket or my mileage. now the bike never skids. but not sure why sudden dip in mileage from 45 to 30 is just 1 month.

3, i would like to increase the top speed, any mods that i should forward to. i have done 132kmph on a downhill and in racing position. on flat tracks its struggles to go beyond 120km. and does installing K&N air filter by anyway help the top speed. i know its hard to tune a Fuel injected bike, but whats are the mods i can make to take my bike beyond 145kph. i know its a big asking, but i wouldn't be satisfied until i do that atleast once on my bike. i know she can do it. and what could be the approximate cost.

i like to Thank Puneet (one of the senior members) for clearing my doubt with regards to Race performance kits for RTR EFI.

Can any senior members advise me whom can i meet personally in and around banglore. i don't wanna show it to the showroom guys are any mechanics coz i know they will mislead me into spending on stuff which doesn't relate to the above matter. if anyone can have a look at my bike and suggest me what needs to be done, i'll get it done from my mechanic only to the extent what needs to be done.

if possible guys in banglore call me or message me on 09663301080.

    Thanks guys

Dude,Check the fuel filter which might have gone.I do had the same issues like jerking and slow response from throttle. I was advised to change the fuel filter very 7000km.Also get tuned the C0. Use the same petrol bunk for fueling.

As long as you keep the tyre profile same, mileage wont be affected that much.

Most of them advised not to use the KN filter, Do check the Air filter thread for better understanding. Also do check for racing sprockets for RTR

        Re: Thanks

        thanks Krishnan6015!!!!!!

i spoke to one of the tvs showroom guys in banglore. he said there's a problem with the ECU and he'll get it replaced under the warranty. he also mentioned the setup was slightly wrong for the bike (default maufacturing problem with the bike , which he claims have been rectified in the bikes being maufactured nowadays).

with regards to changing the fuel filter: 1, does this come under warranty? 2, if not, then how much would it cost?
to replace it every 7000 kms is reasonable. i will try and get this done.

        Thanks

              Tanx once again

hey guys just one more question? its not really a problem infact, but a query about fuel injected bikes.

some time ago i heard that you can tune the fuel injected bike by connecting it to a laptop or a computer. is this a myth or its true. if true then can i get more insight into it.

and one problem i recently noticed in the bike. the petrol tank gets heated ( i mean the part where your legs touch the tank). i can feel the warmth everytime i drive. its been happening from past 2 days. any sAY on this .........

              Thanks

                problem still persists

                hi Guys,

sorry for the late reply, but the problem what i had mentioned still persists.

i've got the fuel filter changed and cleaned the head twice now for CO. i took it back to showroom and they say they have to clean the head once again and they are chanrging me around rs 750 for it. i paid 1200 for the service and now 750 for cleaning the head.... Oopsy daisy!!!! they are only minting money.

the wires had got burnt. there is some electrical surge which is spoiling the fuel flow into the injectors. the throttle response is very weak, my mechanic says there is a problem with the coils in the condensor. is this could be the problem?
there is no pickup nor mileage. the bike struggles like an old man when i have a pillion rider. and top of that vehicle moves like one 100cc bike. any help guys.

if the problem persists i am thinking of selling ths bike and go for a rtr 180.

                Thanks

                    Hi Sai,

do they have any common email or some contact person? i was planning to take it to hosur or mysore (my hometown) where the manufacturing unit itself is present. will try and get it touch with any employees and get to the engineers itself.

                    Thanks
