  • Need suggestion about alarm system for pulsar 180 2k9 edition.

    hi all... i was very excited about purchasing the yanaha R15 in january but ended getting myself a pulsar 180 due to financial constraints. I dont regret purchasing a 180,because its a very finely engineered bike which suits my newbie riding. its been almost a month and half and my bike has been giving me awesome performance(both mileage + power whenever needed)
    yesterday some S O B (pardon me for such language but thats the only word that comes to my mind.) tried stealing petrol from my bike and in that process cut out the rubber petrol tube in two parts .. went to service center and got the bikes petrol tube replaced for 20 bucks .. but now i am looking for a bike security system for my bike.. i've heard that a DC electrical system can cause problems with the security system,and the new pulsar 180 is a complete DC bike.please help me and advise me whether i can get a security system installed on my bike or not .. also which security system is good ?

    Query Approved.

    I cannot advise you on what security system to get, et al, but what I can suggest you do is get a petrol cock lock installed. That way atleast the petrol stealing problem can be taken care of.
    :)

      thanks for the approval aryan !

      will get the petrol cock lock fixed today itself..

      i am student(+ part time web designer) i purchased this bike with my own money and also take care of all petrol needs from my pocket money :P... today i could afford replacing the petrol tube cause it was only for 20 bucks.tomorrow if thieves strike back and do more damage to my bike then i will find it difficult to get my bike back in shape.so i'm still looking for a security system. found Xenos on the net. now i'm looking for (possibly better )options.also can someone tell me how much time does it take to install the system ? tia.

          @manan thnks for the info.
          i went to some local shops here in Pune in Narayan peth and JM road and NANA peth. i went to a couple of shops which were open (today being a monday most of them were closed.) but the owners of the shops i went to flat out recommended AGAINST installing the security device stating that it would affect the battery life and cause bike starting problems (specifically for my pulsar as it dsnt have a kick start and is completely dependent on its all DC battery for starting..)
          also u have stated that u got the device installed from HH SVC itself. does that mean that if u get the security thingy installed from showroom then it doesnt void the warranty for electrical system of the bike ? please help as i need to make the decision within a couple of days ..

          btw i got a petrol cock lock as u (@ aryan) suggested for Rs 95 /- + 10 bucks for fitting it

            Nice to have another P180 owner.

            About security, Personally i did'nt preffered any alarm system tobe used in bike. But, a few of my friends having install that on their P150's have proved me wrong. All those Pulsar's are UG3's, which came with AC+DC set-up. So, if their bikes are not giving problems regarding battery or self issue even after 2years. Then, we must also not have it and believe me their bike starts in 1st self at cold starts and they hardly use kick for starting bike.

            Do have a look at 180 ownership thread for rest.

                I have a local security system since 3 years, 100% working fine.

                Battery issues, YES I do get BUT not the BIKE battery but the remote battery

                Try out the xenos security system. They are cheap and comes with an year warranty too.
