From a Spare parts price list @ Bagga PBK, Delhi, I noticed that the cost of a complete 220 engine is ~26,000.
This would also include the gearbox, doubtful about the oil cooler. Still, the oil cooler is cheap.
Now one would expect a 180 frame and a 220 frame to be reasonably similar. You will have to find out about the costs.
A new sprocket-chain set might also be required...
I think the budget will go over 30K quite easily.
Pickup, eh? Answer = 2 stroke! Matchless...200 | 300 | 1200 BOXER

Thanks a ton on that info I dont mind spending but
1) Is it worth spending 40K on a 3 year old 180
my answer
Yes it is because I would get 21 bhp rear disk projectors like triumph
full naked monster with crazy power and custom exhaust
Whats your opinion on this!!!!

Before you do anything take into consideration the mounting points of the engine. The 180 frame might have it different and that might be a problem!Originally posted by hypergamer View PostHi guys as mentioned in my street 180 thread. Well you have four bikes...so you could convert one into a street racer I guess..
Rather than spending 40K on a 180, if you spend the same 40K on your 220 then you will get to see far more than 21.04 PS. Note that a rear disc etc etc on your 180 would mean the complete disc setup, possibly a swingarm replacement, and god knows what else also as replacement.
If you want to, you could go for it.
My opinion: Mod your 220. Whether the FI or the Carb is upto you.200 | 300 | 1200 BOXER

My humble suggestion:
Sell your 180 and get some 25-30 K Rs Add it to 40 K available.
Go and get a new P220 Street edition.!
Then work on that machine:
Free flow exhost, air filter, etc etc..
Try to get a 24 bhp out of it.
Tune for lowi mid range grunt.
And register a sub 10 sec 100 kmph mark..
probably an 8.5 sec breath stopper!

dude . .. you are intending to spend lots of money on your 180 ...
seriously man do u think spending around 40k for a bike to make best in streets ...
No dude i would encourage you on that... but stil if u are willing to get powerful on ur streets jus keep that 40k in ur pocket
sell ur 180 u might get 20-25k ... squeeze the max out of ur 220 get ur bore chrome finished or a gud ffe maybe porting or boring .... there are gud professionals in here who do this work gud !!
i remember one of my friend doing somethin similar to this and he ended up with lots and lots of pain in his ass
but still if u want to modify ur 180 ... the whole engine with summing up all the spares would cost you around 38k in city (not confirmed not the official bajaj cost) this cost was mentioned by an auto spares when my friend bought it 3 months ago....
don have idea bout the installing procedure i think you have to even change ur frame to 220's cos the engine mounting points would be different and since the engine is sligtly bigger too ..
All the est but think over it ... !!

hey instead of assembling a new engine why dont u bore your 180cc engine into 220 cc .?Originally posted by hypergamer View PostHi guys as mentioned in my street 180 thread. nothing is impossible so if you like to do this mod then go ahead. But the major problem comes is to how you will plonk your engine into 180 frame.
We have two options.
1.modify the current frame but this may lead to serious problems in future.
2.get a 220 frame then engine could be plonked easily but we have to adjust other parts ie petrol tank, seat etc but I don't think it would be difficult.
other thing is that we need 220 swingarm which I think is bigger than 180's.
Hope this might be helpful to you.BE LOYAL TO THE MONEY NOT TO THE COMPANY!!

If initial acceleration is what you want there's nothing like a two-stroker.
It is much easier to tinker around a two-stroke to produce more power than a 4-stroke. Since your requirement is a lightweight streetfighter, this fits the bill with 2nd gear wheelies and insane acceleration.
If it was my money, I would invest it on an RX than waste it on a Pulsie.
For more statistical evidence, compare the timing of 130-160cc 2-stroke category and 160-250cc 4-stroke category in the Nandi Hill Climb as well as various drag events and the results are there for you to judge !4 wheels move the body, 2 wheels move the soul.

Thanks a ton guys for all the efforts you have taken to help me and keep the tempo up. I guess this thread has definately served its purpose, now looking at what the experts said I am changing my decision coz, it makes sense. Now rather than spending 40k just on the engine my goal is to bore the 180 to the max and get the max BHP out of it.
However I will stilll like to make the Street 180 something faster than the 220F. So mods please dont close this thread as now I need help in modding the 180 engine like boring porting etc etc.... please guys all the things that you can think f all I need from this mill is power. So please help me with your valuable suggestions!!!!! I stay in mumbai so a good workshop in mumbai would be great!!!!!!
