  • Info needed About Suzuki Jet Cooling System

Mods... please move to right topic if its not belongs here...

I have suzuki GS 150 R. When i bought they gave a pamphlet which tells the features of this bike

    one point

" New Engine Design with SJCS
The new 150cc engine has been designed with a focus on acceleration performance in the low to mid range speed. Adoption of SJCS provides cooling by jetting engine oil directly into the backside of the piston. The system contributes to the engines ample power output and excellent durability "

    But Specs says "Air-cooled 4 - stroke SOHC "

as i far i know jet cooling is found only in premium bikes. So suzki GS really having jet cooling ? Then why spec says air cooled.

Please explain the tech difference too thanks

The Hottest part of an engine is the Piston Head.

      The SJCS works like this:
There's a small pump in the crank case that sprays a jet of engine oil directly at the piston (from the bottom side, of course) to aid better cooling. When the heat is countered closest to the origin it doesn't spread so much and it works effectively. One of the three main duties of engine oils is to keep the engine cool by dissipating the heat faster than the metal would otherwise do.

I have seen a booklet from Suzuki with a pictorial depiction of the SJCS at a Suzuki dealer when the bike was launched but still was not available for delivery. I took snaps of those pages from my phone but am unable to find them now. If found, I shall post them here.

Lets not get confused with the Suzuki Advanced Cooling System with Suzuki Jet cooling System.

SACS is used in the premium bikes like the GXRs where in oil is delivered at various pressure levels to various parts depending upon the requirement. Please refer to THIS

SJCS is present in the GS 150R where in a jet sprays the engine oil at the base of Piston, aiding in the cooling and smoother running.

Engines are cooled in two ways, either Air or Liquid. and this is what we are talking about cooling off the combustion chamber primarily. So either the combustion chamber will be cooled by natural air as in the case of most Motorcycles, or Forced air, as in the case of Bajaj and LML Scooters or Liquid( water or Coolant) as in the case of Yamaha R15. The engine Oil lubricates the moving parts inside the engine and also help keeping them cool. so as to say, almost all of the bikes that we ride today are Engine oil cooled. But it is the mode of cooling of the combustion chamber that determines if the engine is air or liquid cooled. Bajaj introduced Oil Cooler in the P200 and P220, Avenger. Lets not mistake it with any latest or breath-taking technology. It is just a way to cool off the Engine oil which lubricates and Cools the engine temperature.

I Hope this would have cleared of any confusion.

        all cheers

Pardon me for my ignorance,i guess the same system is present in the p220 carb too.

^^^ May be. We don't know.

It would be interesting to know if there is information about it somewhere. I'd be surprised if Bajaj implemented it and not advertised about it.

The Bajaj Pulsar 220DTSi has the same system. It is just that Bajaj isn't making a big deal out of it like Suzuki is.

                Cheers,
