  • [Help]: Shogun problem

    Hi all,

i have a 96 model 60k run shogun with sealed engine in a complete stock condition.
Lately i am having a problem with the bike.
Even with adequate amount of fuel the bike needs choke to start and when started the bike does not lasts a few throttle strokes it dies off use this bike on daily basis to commute to office, while using the bike it runs properly if pushed but the engine tends to die off as soon as i let go off the throttle.
i have cleaned the air filter and checked the 2t oil which is also adequate

pls help me with this thanks

Your carburettor jets are clogged. Possibly.

You need to remove the carb, dismantle, clean properly and then install back.. that will help with the shut down issues..

      - Yamaha RXZ 5 speed

Carbs cleaning should not take more than an hour.

did the carb cleaning today found out that idling nut was missing..
apart from that i also had rx 135 carb ,compared it with the one on my bike and i was surprised mine was so punny infront of the rx 135 carb now i have doubts that i got a samuria carb with my bike( or am i wrong) it does say mikune made in japan.

after 6 hours of tring had to go back to the old carb ,since the inlet manifold of rx (fits) has an angle that the inlet mainfold touchs the bore.

now there is Khat khat sound from the front sproket ( had changed it less than 1 month ago) also got the vehilce chked by a mech he says the less pickup is casue there is a clutch problem.

guys any suggestions what must have gone wrong

ps:can any body direct me to a place(mech) in Bangalore to get these issues with the bike sorted once and for all.

I'm having hard time understanding your reply. So if I understood right, you've identified the issue to be with the missing idling nut in the carbs & the carbs you suspect could be from Samurai instead of Shogun & the make is Mikuni; Now you've RX135 carbs that you're trying to retro fit into your Shogun, but unable to fit into it.

Next you're asking a question on the front sprockets where you experience some sound

Finally you mention that the Shogun has less pickup because there're a clutch problem.

Help me understand if the above are the ones you're trying to convey. Thanks.

yup thats correct i found the idle nut missing i added another normal one it works but since i had the carb out i thought of putting the rx carb which looks bigger but nogo due to the inlet

i had a doubt that the carb i had (since it was smaller than the rx one) is a samuria 's and not shoguns but i m not sure)

Next you're asking a question on the front sprockets where you experience some sound

yes there is some sound comin from the front sproket, just got the whole chain set less than a month ago

Finally you mention that the Shogun has less pickup because there're a clutch problem.

this was mentioned by a mech, actually the bike does not pop wheelies and all how its supposed to.but he is not reliable casue every time i visted him he fixes one thing and soem thing else goes bad with the bike so i m trying to avoid him

Help me understand if the above are the ones you're trying to convey. Thanks.

hope thats simplified it for u
ps i am sorry i am very bad at typing specially when it comes directly from my mind

The Samurai's carb will not probably fit into your Shogun's intake manifold. Recheck it.

bro i use the bike on daily basis and that place is too far from my place of work and home both so very less chnaces oif going there if you can point out a place nearer will be awsome.

The stock Shogun carb LOOKS smaller compared to a RX carb. Dont worry about that.
