  • [Help]: YZF-R6 on TR.

Hi guys I have been following XBHP from a year and I need some advice from experts here. I am currently studying in newyork and I am planning to bring my 2009 r6 to India (I am hoping since it is used here, it would come under used category when import it in India). and when I was buying the bike (Brand new) from the dealer I asked him to write down the value of it as $ 6000, which he did (actually i bought it for $8000) so My question is that will I be asked to pay customs on the $6000 (shown on the bill) or for the actual price.

And I am planning to come to India for 6 months and I will be coming back to the USA, But I will be leaving the bike in India, So is this TR ( transfer of residence), useful in my case. And also if you can please throw some light on the TR, how it exactly works, and details of the customs. really need some advice. thnx in advance

to answer a part of your query, you need to first figure out what is defined as a transfer of residence. Also what visa are you on, that lets you show a TR to india. If you are going back after 6 months, then that wont/shouldnt be considered a TR.

But there are many others who will be able to answer this much better that i can.

I know about the cost though. The Customs guys do not take your declared value for applying tax. They have their own list of vehicles/prices and will take the MRP from there , account for 1 yr depreciation (2009 model?) and then apply tax.
Since you are getting a used bike I believe the tax is going to be higher than 100%.
