      I have a similar query , a friend of mine has the 220 sprocket and chin kit fitted on his zma. question is can I use the same on my zma with the chain guard.if i use the chain guard should i lube the chain frequently or will it be a low maintenance chain sprocket.

        Of course you can use it with chain guard. Cleaning of chain is required regardless of chain guard. The difference is, with chain guard, the interval for cleaning is much longer. So if you are using o-ring chains with chain guard, they interval for cleaning/lubing will be longer than normal chain. Kind of common sense isn't it ? Warning: Cleaning/Lubing of o-ring chain is not the same as normal chains as they have rubber sealants to retain the lubes. Some chemicals are harmful to these rubber.

          I also faced the same problem and hence, just for the sake of time, removed the chain cover from my HH Hunk(2008) (and i won't be installing it again). I'm willing to fit an O Ring chain, like that of Apache. Is it safe to change the sprocket and chain to o-ring, i mean i mostly ride at 80-90kmph and wouldn't there be any issues over long rides? And which bike's chainset would be best to be installed into Hunk(I know the Over Gear/Under Gear logic but i'm just asking you for best solutions).

              Chain comes in different sizes (different pitch/gauge/length).
              Pitch = distance between each link
              Gauge = Thickness of links
              Length = length of chain
              Example: Bikes like Zma and P220 shares the same pitch though different length, so in order to use P220 o-ring chain on Zma, one has to add links.

              Like wise most 150 cc bikes will be sharing the same pitch and gauge. Length may vary depending on wheelbase. I do not know which sub-200cc bikes uses o-ring type of chain. But the fundamental principle is to get matching pitch for both chain and sprockets. If you can source chain that match your stock sprockets, there is no need to change sprockets. But it is recommended to change both chain and sprockets at the same time to maintain even wear.

                The issue with going for chain and sprockets from another bike is that the gear ratio between front and rear sprockets has to be maintained..

                As a specific case for cbz, i think the chain set or the chain only from the hero honda impulse would be the best alternate. Its an exposed chain, o ring type so will suffice your requirements.

                Who knows, maybe the chain guard from the Impulse might fit as well. The baseline of the bike is the extreme engine after all.

                My offerings to the gods of speed -

                - KTM Duke 200
                - Yamaha RXZ 5 speed

                  Thanks jd666 for the suggestion. I'll definitely try that tomorrow.

                    O - Ring Successfully Installed

                    Hi,

                    After some research, I have now installed O Ring Chain on my HH Hunk 2008.

                    I have fitted Honda Unicorn CB Dazzler 150cc 's O Ring chain. I've just ran 5 km on bike after fittting it, so no detailed review.

                    O Ring Chain Buying Analysis :-

                    After getting basic knowledge about sprockets & chaing from xbhp(thanks to xbhp members) and suggestions in this thread, i went forward to make the real buy.

                    I went to Shop#9, Motor Market, Sec 48, Chandigarh(for reference of other guys from chd, if they also want to).
                    I was offered 3 chainsetds :-
                    1. Bajaj Pulsar 180 UG4 O Ring - Gear Ratio 2.7, ~104 Links
                    2. Yahaha FZ- 16 X - Link (Made By Rolon) - ~110 Links(DOn't remember properly)
                    3. Honda Unicorn CB Dazzler O Ring (Made By Rolon) - Gear Ratio 2.8(Not Best Against 3.07 of Hunk, but still OK) , 126 Links(HH Hunk also has 126 Links )

                    I chose 3rd one because of same number of links as that of stock hunk.
                    It is 15T,42T against Hunk Stock's 43T/14T.

                    Cost - ~1300 Rs.
                    Installation Charges - 150 Rs (thats too much but the fact is the whole frame has to be dismantled to fit this chain as it has no LOCK)

                      Oh I forgot to mention that the above is applicable to CBZ Xtreme as well. If CBZ Star also has same number of links, teeths, then it will be applicable to that too.

                        Stunning. Absolutely stunning. The amount of research you seem to have undertaken to execute this particular mod is absolutely outstanding!

                        Coming back to the topic. The good luck was the same number of links. Was it necessary to change the Sprockets as well?

                        Because if the sprockets are a direct fit, it would work wonders for the bike.(read, increased top end) considering the taller gearing.

                          No ashwin, I didn't try other sprockets.

                            That is good news. So do you use a half chain case from any bike now or is the chain completely bare?

                              Currently, it's completely bare but i'll try some other bike's half chain cover(probably impulse) on next weekend.
