    Do I need to change my tires?

    I have a Karizma 2006 model. Off late, I've started noticing that the bike doesn't seem very stable and I sometimes feel a slight side to side rocking (very slight) and that at speeds higher than 50-60, I tend to take the outside wide curve when the road curves which might be if tires aren't gripping.

    Is there an objective way to tell if I need to change them?

      Hows the conditions of the tyres? If they seem to have worn out then you need to replace them.

        1. just check the thread and see if they are worn out. If so, change them.
        2. How old are the tyres? I mean years. I hope you don't mean to say you haven't changed since 2006. If tyres are couple of years old, the rubber compound will deteriorate and will become prone to skid even if threads are okay.

          Change the tyres only when the treading is worn out & not based on handling; Post some pics of your tyres on those parts where you think wearing is more that will help guage; Also how many Kms did your both tyres last?

            Hi,
            u can check ur tyre wear..In ur manual they would ve mentioned the min amt of required tread.

            In the tyre itself a mark will be there..Near to the marking there will be a groove which depth will act as an indicator.

            Check it
            Its not about just vrooming the engine, sharp cuts, top speeds...A true biker should understand his machine

                    Materials tends to deteriorate as it is exposed to natural elements. Unless they are stored in a controlled environment which I don't believe anyone does. Example, hang our your jeans outside for just a year, it will deteriorate even if you never use it. Of course rubber have longer life, but 4 years is quiet a long time and the rubber characteristic will change and become harder than when it was new. Harder compound provides lesser grip than softer compound.
