  • Need advice about boring of my P180!

    hi xbhpians,
i went to lathe wala to know about boring of my existing 180 classic with the p200's piston, he said it can be done if both pistons shares same pin that connects crank

but he said that p200's valve cannot be installed in 180 classic heads

and i heard it that boring to higher cc wont give performance unless camshaft and valve is changed to a good one.

so please can u advice me on this mod

is it true that bigger valve and higher cam cant be installed in classic heads

What a coincidence? Last evening we were talking about how Bajaj changes its model often & person working in Bajaj service was sharing his experience on training that Bajaj wants their bikes to be serviced only at their A.S.S & hence they keep changing every possible nut & bolt in every model & voila, here's some question that's almost related.

I'm not sure on the valve part, may or may not be true, but I feel you may not be able to get the performance (even almost) of P200 from P180.

BTW - if you're sentimental about your bike, why not simply restore it & buy a new 200CC?

yeah i know , it maybe not possible for 180 to produce power close to 200

just wanted to get more from her, doesn't matter if the gain in power is not huge

its a nice idea but i dont have money enough to buy a used or new bike.

          thanks for the reply

          i have one more question

after this job i want to upjetting the carb, which bike's jet is good for 180 classic?

You may want to try flat slides carbs for better mixture; I'm not sure on the size as I've no experience with 4 strokes; may be 28mm is good & you may want to consult with someone else on the jet sizes.

i will try zma mainjets (size 125),if it will not work good then i will try with various carb for better performance

for sure, my job will take time because i want to get enough knowledge and resouces, i dont want to ruin my bike

for better intake and exhaust i am thinking about porting polishing but i dont know a good tuner in delhi, i went to krp but they were trying to selling me their exhaust instead of porting and polishing

any one knows a good place in delhi porting and polishing

But I've a question for you
Why do you want to change the piston rings? What's the problem with your bike? Did you do a compression test? Is it way below the standard norms?
My advice - DO NOT touch the cylinder unless its absolutely required.

i mean yes its needed to change, white smoke coming from exhaust

                        White smoke, hmm; did you get it rebored recently? Could be a bad job too;
But first do a compression test before touching anything with cylinder.

Sounds like time for new rings; anyway get the compression test done at any B.A.S.S & take the readings.
