  • Fazer-fairing broken-scratched-pls help!!

    Helllo guys,

I am pretty new here and not sure if this the place to ask. I have bought a black Fazer and the baby is 5 months old. The thing is I dropped my Fzer on a road on the gravel...the track was covered with gravel and have no clue how I misssed them..when I braked ( shoud't av done tat) , I ended up dropping my Fazer on my right side ... to my I found that

-right fariring ( the part where the FAZER is written ) was totally broken
    -silencer cover scratched heavily
-heavy scratches in the front of the bike just above the right headlight

I have given the bike to YSC..am somewhat solaced by the fact that fairing is replaced and silencer cover is also replaced...

But the scracthes are heavy..so the YSC guys said that it cannot be covered by polishing (TEFLON coating).

Pls guys...is there a way by which the scatches can be coverd?...
Any possible places in CHennai for getting the yamaha paint done..YSC guys told it is not possible...
pls suggest ways to cover the scratch..or is stickering above the scratch only solution..?

If you could post a pic of the damage.. it would be easier to advise.

If the scratches are heavy or Broken try to replace the Fairing - that is the only way you can get the baby as New....

How much is that fairing? - you can sell the existing fairing for a resonable cost as there will be many more buyers around the corner to buy the older fairing....

Else the only option is stickering....

          Thanks guys for the reply!!

^^I have given the bike to YSC and would get the bike in a couple of days only. Will post the pic once I get it.

^^The fairing is totally broken, ysc guys have ordered for replacement. Costs around 2k per fairing.

My only issue at the moment is the scratches above the right side headlight. To give an idea just c the pic(red circle above right lamp)...the scratches r pretty deep..
YSC guys told me that no paint will give the look the original...so better to go for stickering..

I mean is there no way to get the orginal paint back..(no issues abt cost) ...if the painiting is gone, is it gone forever...?

you can try this product similar to formula 1, called scratch out. See if that helps.

Sorry to hear about the crash.
I don't agree at all that no paint will give the original look. If the color is matched correctly, it can be as good as or even better than the original in some cases. Why do I say even better? Read point no.3 to find out.
This is what you need to do:
                  1. Replace cracked portions of fairing (there is a way to repair that also, but you need to have a co-operative painter for it)
                  2. Repaint scratched portions-be sure to make the painter match the shade perfectly, especially if it is metallic.
                  3. Ask him to lacquer or clear coat after final coat of paint is applied. This will bring back the glossy look&if the shade is matched correctly, this part will actually shine more than even a new bike!
Since your bike is black, color matching will not be difficult at all, IMO.
Just find the right place&get it done. I think even the silencer cover can be painted, all for a few hundred of rupees.
Close up pics would have helped us to determine whether the crack in the fairing is repairable or not. If you are touchy, replace it.
                  All the best.
                  Quench my thirst with gasoline!
