    Query Moved and Approved.

An official R1, for Rs.7.5 lakhs is an absolute steal, considering the fact that it has done JUST 540kms.!! It is a very good deal, I say. If you have the moolah, go and pick it up right now! Don't waste any more time.

Definitely, he may not speak truth, but you have to make him speak truth. Cross Question and some technical inspection.

Sudipta, getting an official R1 for such a low price sounds too good to be true.

First of all check if the papers are in order. Compare entries on the RC book and tax paid, duty paid receipts with someone else who has an official SBK.

Next inspect the bike for any damage to rule out any accident issues. If the bike has been repainted, thats a definite give-away or tell tale sign that it has crashed. A low mileage SBK wouldnt be repainted unless it has crashed or the owner wanted a "limited edition" color scheme thanks to excess moolah.

Take a friend along with you... one who has an SBK and let him inspect the bike thoroughly. If he can ride it for a short distance that would pour out the truth about the bike whether it is worth buying or not.

Lastly, probe the seller with a lot of questions as to why he needs to sell the bike. It could be to arrange funds or to upgrade etc. but the real reason might just be lurking around. Probe as much as you can. A seller who is genuine and honest will not take offence with questions of sorts and will actually be proactive in sharing information once he is convinced that you have genuine interest in the vehicle.

hope this helps. All the best and keep us posted.

Take an informed decision so you dont regret it later.

The price seems too good to be true. But this isnt the first timne ive heard official sbk's going for such a low rate. Check service history. Im sure he took it to the service station for somehting. The first oil change has to be in the first year, right? Check with the insurance co and see if any claims were made. if posible get a sbk mech to check it and double check the compression. Ive seen 2 08 R1's with valves and valve seats that took a dump within the first 1k kms. Someone in blore had the same problem but after many kms. Was it Akhil?

Approach with caution but do check it out! This may be an offer of a lifetime!
                  Cheers!

8l or so seem to be the normal price for a used "official" R1 ..Ive seen atleast 3 bikes which sold for that rate..only thing special in this case being the ultra low mileage of only 540km..the bikes I saw had mileage ranging from 2.5 to 4k ... goodluck to you if your going to pick it up..if not let me know cos Im looking out for a genuine issue R1 here thanks!

hi guys... ya have seen the bike myself it's just like out of the showroom, brand new and the bike is 100 % official have no doubt on this cause I know him from the time of his purchase. It was a cash purchase.
He is selling the R1 cause he's a bit healthy and now he's 50+ years old so it's difficult for him to ride the R1 cause of it's extreme riding position so he's planing to buy a Hurley .

My problem is that I have to run the bike on normal unleaded or speed as theres no 97 octane pump located near my home, will it cause any problem in the long run?

I think there are two bunkers in Cal which sell Speed 97
