hi pratham, adjusting the tappets is like its not so easy, but not so hard to do.
as being automobile enggr i suggest u to go and done it at ur service men. any hows if u r interested to do it yourself thn here are the steps.
1. first thing is tht u need proper tools to adjust the tappets...tools like
a.10mm and 8mm ring spanner.
b.one medium size blunt screw driver.
c.plug spanner to remove plug.
d.tappet adjuster.
e.very imp feeler gauge.
2.this adjustment must me done while the engine is totally in cool condition.i better prefer early mrngs to get best of it.
3.the method wat im saying u is the easy way and u do not need to get confused wit magnet timing.
4.first remove the plug and even the tappet covers of the engine using the ring spanners i hope it gets 8mm..bettr u check it out.
5.now make sure tht the piston is at top of the cylinder may be it is at power stroke or compression stroke...u can know it by using screwdriver in the plug hole and check wether the piston is at top or not by slowly cranking the engine by kickshaft.be sure tht the screwdriver does not damage the threads of the plug hole and does not stuck in the cyinder bore.
5. now the piston is at top end and the valves are in closed position.aftr removing the tappet covers there u wil find one nut outside a threaded shaft which has very small square head.
u shud know wat are thy.let me explain...the sqr headed shat is the one which adjusts the tappet gap,the nut secures the shaft from loosening due to high spped running of the rocker arms and cam shaft.
6.now in the feeler gauge u will find thin small blades on which its thichness is mentioned.now take out 0.8mm and 0.10mm thickness blades frm it.
7.use the lesser one to the inlet tht is for the one which is on the carb side and the other to the exhaust one.
8.loosen the nut (8mm or 10mm) and rotate the shaft anticlockwise to loosen it a bit so tht the gauge goes freely in it.now use the ring spanner and the tappet adjuster and carefully tighten the shat using adjuster and make sure tht the gauge is in between the valve and the shaft and after shafts gets tighten hold the adjuster firmly and tighten the nut.make sure do not give more power it may damage the threads.
9.now repeat the same to the exhaust and remove the gauge frm thm and there u r done.replace the covers and oring if necessary and tighten the bolts and replace the plug.
10.make sure of the threads slippage and do not over tight the tappets it may result in stopping of the enging and unsteady idling rpm.
ALL THE BEST MAN AND BE CAREFULL.DO NOT GO TO WORK UNLESS U UNDERSTOOD THE WHOLE THING.
