  • Unicorn sprocket change

    Hi All

I have 2005 model Unicorn, have learnt that the present generation Unicorn spocket comes with 43 at the rear end.

I know the increase in the teeth would tend the bike to become slightly better in pulling/pick up.

Since my Unicorn sprocket should be with 42 at the rear, can I go for the latest generation chain sprocket kit? Is this advisable?

What I would like to know?
    1. Will the change increase in pickup?
    2. Will this be direct fit or it won't fit?

I have another concern though it is silly, I find Honda Stunner side stand is better than my Unicorn's. When took it up to the showroom, they said it won't fit. Is there a better compatibility for Unicorn? I find my bike's side stand not stable and few times had been lucky to hold back when side stand moved.

      1. Yes.
      2. Direct fit.

Ask a local mechanic about the side stand. If you want more stability, the bike has to lean more.

Thanks iamvik on the sprocket clarification.

I was thinking about the new gen sprocket kit, then wanted to discuss if this could be installed on my bike.

Due to the bike heaviness, feel the side stand should not be leaning more than an angle. I feel Honda had given pony side stand to it heavy machine.

If you are thinking of changing the chain too, change both sprockets too at the same time. You could then choose to fit the new Unicorn chain kit.

I think the side stand is up to the job. But if you feel it's not stable enough, you could try bending the side stand outwards to increase the distance of the it's foot from the bike. The bike will then lean more and therefore will be more difficult to topple. You can't have more stability with the standard lean angle.

Regarding the sprocket, I would always go for the complete Chain Sprocket kit and not the rear alone.

Regarding the side stand, I might have to go to a local mechanic to have this done as advised.

              Thanks for your valuable suggestions.

If you are ok then try the Karizma chain sprocket kit. Its a direct fit

fittin that sprocket would reduce the top end of each gear although the acceleration would definitely increase..the unstability in side stand is due to worn out screw of the side stand which bears the load of the bike..your side stand revolves around this screw..so get it changed and there would be no problems whatsoever..fitting karizma chain set would kill the top speed of the bike, u wud only do around 90-95 max on ur uni on the zma chain set
If U haven't Seen GOD, U haven't gone fast enough

Will stick to Unicron sprocket with 43 rear.

This weekend will try to get this one done if not tomorrow.

i guess adding zma chain set would increase top end and decrease acc
rear sprocket lesser better top end rear sprocket more more the acc..zma is having 40teeth rear?

                        If that is the case,

My Unicorn 2005 came with 42 teeth at the rear sprocket.

New generation Uncorn comes with 43 at the rear - That's the reason why I wanted to make this change so that there is a better acceleration/pickup without compromising much on the mileage.

ZMA chain sprocket as suggested by others would decrease the acceleration, however, if the ZMA rear sprocket is 40, then can you please let me know if it is a good idea to go for ZMA? Has anyone done this before?

I am also using Unicorn 2005 model and its acceleration is really poor. So have you changed the sprockets? Felt any difference? I think its not only the sprockets but also the Carburetor which is the culprit. Can we install any other carburetor in its place? A person at Hero honda said Unicorn and Xtreme's engine is almost identical except for the crankshaft. Is it true?

I'm a 2stroke freak. However, do have Unicorn.

I have not changed the sprocket yet. When I approached the Honda Dealer here last time he said have no stock. Offlate I have not been using Unicorn much since RX ride just got interesting.

I definitely have plans to change the sprocket very soon. For me it only mattered the pull and not other factors like carb etc.

Another thing is that Xtreme and Unicorn share lot of similarities however, there is a difference in camshaft/crankshaft whch I'm not sure. Xtreme delivers 14.4bhp.

Putting ZMA's sprocket will increase acceleration.!! It might ve 2T less at rear, but also has 2T less at front. So the initial will be much much better than the stock. You can also try the CBZ classic sprocket (full set).

But again, be aware that top-end will go for toss.
