Ram the piston is in pretty bad shape, well you will have to get a rebore done. And I am not sure about the piston another mechanic is selling. Instead I would suggest get a 4th number bore done and in meanwhile look for a new kit. in this way you will have ample amount of time and you will also be riding your bike.

Well all the best bro...2strokes do require patience, time and money but they are the Best

Given it for rebore, it's come back and is on ideling from about an hour.

@Shiva, not just the piston the other machanic has the whole bore kit running on 2nd size so wanted an opinion to go for it or keep looking for a new "bore kit"

I am waiting to take her for a ride. Will post updates later...

How many kilometer should I drive her "sober"? Also any tips to take care coz of the rebore? Like may be add oil to the petrol along with the side oil tank etc....?

start adding oil to the tank... get Castrol Jetx or Castol VSX2 Green Can

        add 35-40ml per litre

well ride her around 1000kms in which first 500kms should be within 40kmph and next 500kmph under 60kmph. In second 500kms you can give her some quick shots above 60kmph but dont retain that speed for long. Also do not keep her on constant speed in the run-in period. And adding 2T oil in petrol in right proportion is good along with using the 2T oil from the 2T tank.

take good care of her and ride safe

The bike came back from re-bore. The pistons and the bore are clean now I do feel the difference now as in it's a smoother ride now.

I have a weird noise at the gear lever now at idle - any suggestions?

Also, when the bike is stand still at idle the bike is on, engine is running. But while on road when there is a speed breaker and I press the clutch the engine turns off (sometimes randomly). I thought the problem might be with the spark plug and got it changed but the problem still remains!

^^ check your gear lever for loose play when stationary.

the bike shutting down while pulling clutch can be due to number of factors, including the fact that its a rebored engine so friction is higher so the engine stalls easily, or the carburettor is not set correctly to give the optimum idle. Check the carburettor first and get it cleaned and serviced.

Arvind, I guess JetX is sold no more; the only good 2T oils now are Motul, Shell Advance/2T & ELF.

Thats good bro. And remember one thing 2-strokes do make some noise so you will have to learn to live with it

About the bike stalling while pressing the clutch may be due to gear adjustment, your bike is not properly tuned. So get it checked and see to it brother and keep us updated. Happy Run-in...take good care of her

Thanks for the suggestions guys, need a good tuner to check the carberrator and the gear..

Also, does any one have any recomendation for a good sleeving job for the bore in Bangalore? I am running out of time as I am running on the last size bore and need to have a Plan B in case I dont find a new bore kit.

i guess RX100 bores are still available

Was that sarcastic comment or you didn't know for sure? Castrol focuses more only on 4 stroke oils & there're very less 2T oils available & they don't even care about responding to their customers questions. I personally love JetX & enquired about it with about 4-5 dealers here in Chennai & all of them unanimously gave one reply - "NO JetX or 2T oil from Castrol"; I now switched over to Shell Advanced 2T fully synthetic.

                        Sorry about the off topic.

sarcastic i still have old stocks of jetx with me so thought it was still available

Shell Advanced is just another mineral oil marketed as fully synthetic

News has been always around my contacts at Yamaha Say nothing positive since Market is Very Small (meant for Major Part) is not worth risking
Day to Day parts will be around

Sorry, I could not believe this. As far as Shell as a company, I'm sure they do not indulge in such activities. Could you tell me the source of information?

Very very true; its more than a year they've been telling this; anyway, except the cylinder, carbs, 12 V magneto, rear stay, casing & fork I'm able to obtain all the parts.
