  • ZMA Problem over my head !!

    Hi,
I have a zma, been owning it for 3 years now and it has some kinda of weird problem. I dont exactly know where the problem is from..

Basically, this is the description, somewhere about a year back, my bike wasn't able to go above 60kmph..i dont know why.. when i put the bike to neutral and revved the engine, it went smoothly till the end around 8-9 somewhere.. but when i put the gear and tried to ride as usual, the bike powered on till 4k rpm and then suddenly from there on, it never went up.. it was almost like 4k rpm was the higher end of my bikes capacity, after about riding for a min, it finally touched 5k rpm.. and at times this problem gets solved on its own.. ie it goes normally till 8k rpm ..i dont race with my bike, i dont do stunt, i dont drag, but i do go on long rides often.. i gave the bike of service and mentioned this problem and they said, there wasn't a problem .. probably a air bubble in the carburetor.. but after this prob i've seen a major decrease in my milage and pickup. even today a p150 can beat my bike in pickup and my bike tops off at 120 now..much opposed to 130 before this problem came.. the bike is in stock condition .. done 28k kms now.. no parts changed.. i think the problem may be with either my gear box or the engine piston .. not sure of both though .. experts .. pls suggest me on wot to do ???

Get the fuel filter changed and the tank washed. There is dirt in it. And the carb tuned properly. Problem solved

Does the ZMA have a fuel Filter?
Sorry for asking. Just a bit ignorant.
Maybe, thats my problem. I need a fuel filter change.

i dont know bout zma but the same problem had surfaced on my old bike ( cd100) and the service guy told me to get the timing retard mech checked.. on opening i found rust had jammed the movement of the lever.

so got it rectified and the bike was running fine again...

if the zma has a mechanical spark mechanism then u can also get it checked.... but keep this as the last option....

U can check Clutch plates and pressure plates.. change them if needed

            Decarbon the engine

Check air filter and spark plug.. if needed replace

Clean Carb if needed and ensure air screw sertting is set right as per factory

Actually, this problem started the very next day after a local mechanic removed the air filter of my bike, and changed the jet.. i had given it to service the bike and to improve its performance and that guy did all this without asking me, i asked him to put it back right away and undo everything extra he had done.. does this problem have to do anything with that guy's handy work ?? yep i already changed the air filter at 20k kms.. clutch plates are fine, got them checked, carburettor i'm not sure if anything has to be done.. and i apologize for my ignorance.. wot is a fuel filter ?? is it conceptually similar to an air filter ??

You get original jets and give it to Hero Honda... and get it restored
