  • YZF R15 Bent Brake Pedal

Hi, I am from Bangladesh. I have recently had a minor accident with my R15 in which the bike was bruised sideways against a road-divider. As a result, the brake pedal (right foot brake lever) has been bent backwards, 180 degrees, just like a bow. Could you guyz please let me know, shall I a go for a new Brake Pedal or shall I let the mechanics to turn it back using brut force, which according to them is an easy & quick solution. Besides, here in BD Yamaha Dealership, I could not find the brake pedal as a spare part. Please let me know is it ok to bend the brake lever to its original position and shape, the way the local mechanics are suggesting me?

    Thanks.

didnt know that R15 is also being sold in bangladesh !! guess its made for indian subcontinent !!

nyways ...Yes you can very well bend it backward...nothing wrong in it !! just make sure that while doing so the contact with the plunger for rear disc brake is made properly and that brake lights lights up properly !
Its great to be young and INSANE !

          u buy a spare.

But until you get one, you can get the bend straightened easily. Better you do it carefully than leaving it on mechanics.

Smaller bend, use a pipe - the water pipe we use in buildings or similar and carefully turn it. Bigger one, take it to a welding shop and also warn them that it can brake. Excess force breaks it but it can set right to a usable position until you get a new one.
