  • Help with K&N filters and Engine Oil for Hunk

    Hello xBhpian's

I am new to the xBhpian's community.

Also I am very happy to be a part of this community.

I have some question with regards to my bike Hero Honda Hunk.

Its just 5 months old with the running of 4000 Kms.

I wanted to know about the K&N filters and also about the engine oil.

Basically I wanted to know about the how the K&N filters work and what are the advantages and disadvantages of it.

Also wanted to know if it makes the engine over heat and
If I go head with it do I need to make changes with the jets?

Another question is with Engine oil.

I have checked with the synthetic oils however I was unable to find the 10W30, with any of the brand.

I checked with the petronas oil as well, they have 10W40. sprinta 5000.

    However HH recommends for 10W30.

Do we get 10W30 in fully synthetic and can we use 10W40 sprinta 5000?

Please help with the above query.

    Thanks

    Mohan

A K & N filter for the Hunk would be the RC-1060. Though u will have to upjet to increase fuel intake. Once u upjet u will feel increase in the power and the sound of a K&N is awesome too. But mind u be ready to sacrifice fuel efficiency. What is your stock jet size? I think Hunk has 115 jet size. You might have to upjet to 125 for best performance. The RC-1060 costs RS.1800

hey mate RC1060 is a direct fit to your carb But i suggest you to try RC1100 we have 2 hunks here one with Rc1060 and another with 1100 though there is no big difference in power even after up jetting but there is difference in sound 1100 got some better RoR , The dealer will be suggesting you to go for 1060 as it is used widely in 150cc bikes But do check the1100 too

            Best of luck

Dude, I am using Petronas Sprinta 5000 in my HH Hunk. I had to stop continuing it for a while as I was not able to find it out anywhere in Kolkata. Then I realized the difference of a semisynthetic and a fully synthetic oil. Then once again I shifted back to Petronas sprinta 5000 10W40 oil. I used to drain it at 2500km. Its a good oil - you can go for it. Just, do not disclose this thing to the Service Center guys. But over all, I don't think this 10W40(fully Synthetic) viscosity gread instead 10W30(mineral) would harm the machine as the synthetic oils are much thinner than the mineral one and very much stable too under heat.
Don't expect any big difference between your stock engine oil and Petronas Sprinta, until you are going for a long drive and putting stress in your machine. The oil is really good. But, take my advice, at least purchase more than two bottle of Petronas - in that case if the oil is temporary out of market, then you need not to use a semi synthetic oil (which is not good) - like me, of course.
To use Petronas you need not to flush the engine, just drain the existing oil and fill the oil chamber with Petronas. I use the full 1L, as the engine oil capacity of HH Hunk is 1.2L.
