  • Need Help:Pulsar 200 running on engine oil or petrol??

    Hello Guys!!!
Need your help, I have pulsar 200(feb 2008), hav covered around 22k on it.
now the problem as i hve noticed is the low level of engine oil.

I had my bike service on 17 apr 2010, and after that i have covered around thousand KM on it(including a 700Km trip). so it normal for it to loose engine oil after such a long ride??? it is below normal level now ( it was near max level after service).

Can anyone please tell what should i do?
and yes i do(sometimes) get a smell of engine oil burning.

Please help i am really concerned about her health. And please also tell what type of engine oil shuld i go for her and whta brand

    thanks

Start your bike, Accelerate to about 6-7K and at the same time put one hand near the exhaust mouth(place from where gases leaves silencer), If you notice black engine oil coming along with gases than your bike has something wrong like Piston seals gone kaput,...

Park your bike on a flat floor and when the engine is cool then check your oil level,
first do this if there is less engine oil then we can cjek some other things.

Apart from seals you might also have to change Piston and some other minor things, which should cost between 1-2K(just a guess, not sure about exact price).
            Thanks.

              Thanks.
i will try your method in the evening, but apart from damaged seals is there any other possible reason for loosing the engine oil so quickly???

tried your method, the result was negative, there was no engine oil coming along with gases. i even used a plain white paper and placed it near the exhaust mouth, but still the paper was clean.

                    now what do i do??
will have to get it checked by the service center which i really dnt like

Mostly, the cause of oil level decreasing is weakened\worn out piston\piston rings. So, if the piston is alright then piston rings might do the job for you, otherwise complete set change is the only way to kill the problem. or Temporarily top-up engine oil frequently every 200kms or depending on the frequency of oil level decreasing.

This same problem used to happen with my dads Bajaj 4SChampion which I used to ride during college days. The root cause was a faulty piston ring.... and AFAIK that is always the reason for major drop in oil levels.... I'd suggest you fill her up once and keep an eye on it for the next 1k kms... if its dropping drastically get it checked out... wishing you all the best... else its 1-3k gone for sure...

                          Update

Sorry guys for replying so late.

Went to Kirti Nagar Bajaj Service Center this sunday.
Guy there told me to get the cylinder kit changed(so i was like ). He then told me that it will be covered under warranty , I said ok, but then he told me the timing chain will also be changed and it will not be covered under warranty, so had to pay for this.

he also asked me to get the clutch plate changed, but i refused as it was changed two weeks back,

so please tell me is it really necessary to change the clutch with cylinder kit change??? Did i made a mistake by not getting the clutch plate changed???

and one more thing, i have to chng my engine oil after 500kms(cant drive faster than 50KMPh till 1K Km ) so where can i get MOTUL semi synthetic in delhi???

^^ No, it's not necessary to change clutch plates too. Just the cylinder kit would do the job.
