I own a Fazer, which has clocked almost 900kms. I have finished my first service one week back. I fit Iridium Spark plugs for my bike yesterday and the bike's really awesome. Now I want to fit K&N air filters for my bike. I live in Chennai and I would welcome it if somebody would suggest me a good place to go and fit K&N. I asked one guy about re-jetting/up-jetting after fitting the K&N filter..He says it is not required and the bike will automatically change the Jet..? I didn't understand this properly..Should I fit K&N filters now or not??? And what about the Re-jetting after that?? Please do help me..!

see as for indian bikes k&n or any aftermarket filter wont show any significante performance..unless you upjet..
the only thing you get is the sound
so do upjet if you fitting an aftermarket air filter......
ok,....
ujetting means,.....
changing the stock jet wit a higher size jet...
ok jet mean.....itz a nut i mean through which the fuel flows... to the engine....so if you make the hole bigger more fuel goes...
so after fittin an aftermarket filter or k&n the air has increased but the fuel flow remains the same due to same size jet...so the only thing you can notice is that you get sound...you may thing the power has increased but no ...try to race with a stock bike of the same bike
u will get to knoe
so to match the airflow you have to increase the fuel flow so we do upjetting means increasing the hole size
it is situated in the carb...
just shared my knowlegde ....

Who will do this Up-jetting? And once its done, it can't be changed right...is it harmful in any way if i do it?? i dont knoe where you will get the upjetting thing done in chennai...ask any one from any chennai xxhbp member..
see we can change the jet...itz a nut (thatz what i call)
itz like changing the nut...
itz a simple thing,..
and it wont harm your bike.rather there will be less heat...sigpic

This mod is totally reversible.....u can fit back the stock jets.
What he il do is remove the air box of ur FZ,fit k&N directly to carb.....
He il first check the spark plug reading, if its really running lean or else he il do upjet....he knows all these stuffs coz he is the one who does servicing of all SBKs in chennai....if lucky u can see R1,Aprilia 1000R.....

@Ashwin Yes, the Iridium Spark plugs are good. I could feel a better acceleration while riding my Fazer, also the Top speed should be definitely better by atleast 2-3KM/H.

@akmaintu Yes, there is an increase in the bhp after fitting K&N filters..if the upjetting is done properly...

Please stop dishing out incorrect information. A sparkplug will not alter the gearing of your bike!

the mechanic is lying , jets cant change 'automatically ' . u need a bigger jet after k&n as air flow is higher so we need to supply more fuel as well .
