Disc brake failed!

    Disc brake failed!

    hey guys..
    need help!
    i just got to find out that my front disc brake failed to apply on a crucial moment.
    On further checking i realized a chunk of polythene(plastic bag) stuck b/w the brake assembly and the disc.
    Tried pulling it out..its stuck tightly. The wheel is getting friction while moving!
    And there are few residues of oil(maybe brake oil) on the polythene.
    How can i remove it?
    is it possible for me to remove the brake assembly myself and pull out the polythene?
    Or should i go to Bajaj service?

      If your a DIY type of person that knock yourself out! You can probably just take the assembly out and take the polythene out otherwise, if you can wait, then just go to bajaj!! i dont think they will give you any problemz

        wow.that was fast
        well..its sunday tmrw. I would have to wait till monday!
        And i am a bit new to DIY!
        Is it ok if i do it on my own?
        afterall i wud have experience if i do it on my own.
        Is there any precautions to take? i mean...some details to look for while trying to remove the wheel?

          i have never done anything to a 220 but



          See, the circled, i dont think you have to remove the whole wheel. just remove the caliper...

          Also, do on your own risk.

            actually me driving a p150.
            and is there a need to remove the calipers? Coz removing the wheel would ensure a gap sufficient to remove the polythene... i am just assuming! plz direct me if i am wrong.

                just remove the front wheel, the disc will come out with the hub, you can then remove any foreign object from between the calipers

                    the problem you are facing is very unique, first time hearing such a thing.
                    If the plastic is stuck between the pad and the disk, then there should not be any brake fluid on the plastic because there us no way the fluid can leak.
                    IF the plastic is stuck between the pad and the secondary piston inside the caliper then the leak is possible. Since you have not put up any pictures, it is hard to guess the root cause.

                    And ya, keep ur skin away from the brake fluid, it burns and will damage paints and plastics, esp if the fluid is clear (DOT4). Dot 4's burn more compared to the colored DOT 3's
                    Most motorcycle problems are caused by the nut that connects the handlebars to the saddle.

                      It seems jammed. I dont know about the pistons...

                      There is residue of some oil(not in large quantities).

                            yup, remove front wheel, and then inspect caliper. I think due to the friction heat its possible it might have melted and gotten stuck to the caliper as well.

                            remove front wheel, disc will get released from caliper by doing that, then remove caliper mounting bolts and see if you can remove the plastic properly.
