  • Pulsar 150 Issues

    Hi fellow XBhpians.
I'm Shekhar, Own a Pulsar 150 2008 Model, done more than 28K Kms. I have been facing an issue of performance lately on my bike. I used to get the speed of 50KMPH @ 4K RPM, 63KMPH @ 5K RPM & 75KMPH @ 6K RPM (All ODO Indicated) respectively. But since past two weeks I have witnessed a reduction in speed of 2-3Kms at these RPMs i.e. 48Kmph @ 4k RPM, 61Kmph @ 5k RPM & 71Kmph @ 6k RPM. I Thought it would have been an issue of tire pressure as the rear tire tube had 5 punctures fixed before. So I got the tube changed, but the problem still persists. I maintain the tire pressure i use, oil levels & monitor it regularly, i.e. 27psi on the front & 30psi on the rear. I haven't faced such problems before, I regularly get my bike serviced, 12 Done Till date. Don't seem to understand anything...Can Anyone help me out?

get your clutch plates checked. it can be because of the worn out clutch plates....
and air pressure for front should be 25 psi
and rear should be 35 psi (correct me guys
      if i m wrong)......

i agree...it could be worn out clutch plates or something with engine also like crank shaft play.....is there a sound coming from engine or the bike is eating a lot of oil...?

u know even my 150 used to give 75kmph on 6k rpm earlier.... then i had to overhaul my engine because it started consuming a lot of oil.....(and this oil consumption thing started after i used motul fully synthetic oil....dats a different story though) ...and u know after that my bike never gave me 75 kmph on 6000 rpm...instead it now gives 72 kmph on 6k rpm.

regarding tyre pressure...front should be 25 and rear it should be 32/35, the reason is that in older pulser manual it is written as 32 whereas in new pulsars it is mentioned as 35.

so, bro correct the tyre pressure first, then do a proper servicing , air filter clean etc....lubricate the chain, then see if you have already done this, ask your mechanic to check rear wheel bearings, rear chain sprocket bearings....swingarm bush,..and yes chain should not be too tight. i too have faced this problem a few times and one of the above mentioned reasons were the culprit.

My Bike's Left front shocker was leaking oil(didn't noticed),,,,also the chain was too tight. So I got the clamps changed, oil filled and i'm back on 50Kmph @ 4K RPM. My Sincere thanks to princesirohi. Thank you all.

                    Similar Problem

                    Hey guys,

                    I too have a 2008 pulsar 150, and I have a similar problem.

But additionally I have another problem. My bike picks up fine initially but the power seems saturate at about 66Kmph. Even after a good service (cleaned air filters, clutch plate changed (m at 25000 km), *synthetic oil and the rest) the prob persists. My mechanic removed the air filter cap (under the seat) to nullify any drop in power, but this only made the lower revs quick. The bike still saturates at 66 kmph at around 6 1/2 k rpm! Please help!

replace the reed switch fitted on carbeurator and see if your problem is solved. if not then try to replace the diaphram assembly (black color) inside the carb, it moves up and down and sometimes with age, it develops scouring on walls so it cant slide well. try replacing it with that of some other bike if your mechanic agrees, just to check, if it solves the problem, buy a new one. other wise there can be issues with CDI or carb jets or clutch setting.

check all these and report back.....

we need to change spark plug every 10-15K km.. due to not doing this sometime performance degrades.
we require two spark plug for DTSI.
                        recommendation.
                        1. stock spark plug - sucks big time - 80rs each
                        2. NGK G-Power spark plug - 140 rs. each.. hundred time better than stock ones..
                        3. NGK Iridium spark plug. 550 rs. each.
sells like hotcake even at thi price. speaks for itself..

NGK ones are available in pune at castrol bike zone shivajinagar..
and i guess at some bike accessories shops as well..
