  • Need information and advice on silencers for bullet

    Hi All,

As we are aware, the new Bullets comes with a UCE engine, and the 'thump' of the new bullet is not like that of the old CI Bullets.

I know that the change in thump is because of change in engine, and not only because of the silencer, but can the thump be improved by change of the silencer?

    My questions are -
    1. Does such a silencer affect the performance of motorcycle / engine in any way? Does this overheat the engine, or results in any mileage reduction or power drop? Is it fine to have such muffler fitted?

    2. What all types of silencers are available? I have heard of names like 'Goldstar', 'Bendpipe', etc, but honestly have not got much information on internet on those.
Can someone please explain what types of silencers are available, and which one can be fitted for a decent thump?

    3. If I change the silencer on a brand new Bullet, does the warranty gets voided?

PS: I understand that Bullet lovers would suggest me to buy a used Bullet for the original thump, but honestly, I would like to go for a brand new one only!

Thanks in advance for your inputs and advice!

    Best regards,
    Anand

Im looking for answers for same questions.... wonder why nobody responds to these questions.

I got a goldstar silencer fitted . it sounds good but mileage has dropped a good 5 kms.

Is there something i can do to get better mileage with this silencer?

OEM silencer? How about Short bottle?

Many people in various threads / forums have referenced silencers as 'OEM' or 'Short Bottle' one.

Can someone please throw some light on this? What is OEM silencer ?

I am not sure if the upswept one would look good on the Standard 350 UCE (or Electra) - It would look good on the C500 or C350, but many not look good on Standard...

            Opinions / inputs welcome!

For those who unaware - I am not sure about the warranty (whether or not it gets voided) but it is NOT advisable to change the silencer for first 3000 kms (at least) - source - some other threads in the same forum (or team-bhp).

PS: I have booked the Bullet UCE 350 (standard) and would be getting in somewhere in Sep or Oct

            Cheers!

As far as warranty is concerned, there is no problem as long as you keep the stock bend pipe together with the catalytic converter intact. Myself verified this with the authorised dealer.

By the way, I was looking for a Short bottle dome (only) for my 350CI. Heard the dealer doesn't have original in stock; only the other makes. Tried it at Sandhya in JC Road, here in Bangalore; no original still. Sandhya asked me to wait for some-time for the stock to arrive, but for quite sometime RE sends only Shortbottle domes for Twinspark models (the outside fitting is different).

For the standard model, entire exhaust system with free-flow bend pipe plus short bottle dome (with baffles) has arrived. Sandhya suggested me to put this on my Standard CI. But am not ready to lose the confident low end torque the cat-con generates.

Guys, any suggestion as to where-from or how to source a short bottle silencer original RE make ? Also, if at all I should go for another make, which ones are tested & dependable ?
