I'm new to this forum.. Read a post called " Guide (Run-in & Maintenance) for new Pulsar Owners" here. one of the points in that says "NEVER ride at a sustained speed/rpm for any length of time EVEN IF you are below the accepted limits - keep changing the RPM and speed by changing the throttle position at short intervals to prevent glazing of your piston, and also getting the various moving parts bedded down nicely at different speeds. What this does is makes the bike smooth and the power delivery seamless across the entire power band rather than just at one particular speed."
I own a Pulsar 150 UG IV.. The bike is around 8-9mths old and has run 10800kms till now.. when my bike was new, I was adviced by many(friends) to maintain a constant rpm of around 3.5 to 4rpm for the 1st thousand kms so that the bike's speed remains in 40s. even after the first 1000 kms, I didn't ride at over 4k-5krpm in any gear except the fifth gear.. so i don't think my engine has 'opened up'(there is no kinda sudden acceleration(pick up) in lower gears even if the throttle is raised to above 4000rpm).. Is there somethin that i can do now(after >10k kms)?? [
] unfortunately i didn't get to read this when my bike was new...Also I would like to know, wats the ideal rpm to change gears to get the best mix of good pickup and mileage..
