  • Fzs engine shut down ... please help!!

yesterday i went for a long ride to complete my last 50 odd km to complete 500km so i could get my first service done today... while doing about 60kmph very smoothly the throttle didn't respond all of a sudden when i accelerate, bike was in 4th gear and when i accelerate there was no noise and the bike wouldn't pull it was slowing down instead... at first i thought it was because my tank was empty or the throttle cable was broken but then the indicator showed i had fuel and the throttle was fine... i switched off and started again and the engine and throttle responded as normal...
and again in the morning on my way to the service station for my first service... it happened again... it freaks me out with all the vehicles honking behind... i did the same thing, off the switch and on again and it worked fine.... i mentioned this to the service guy and he said hell look into it...
I want to know why this happens it would be of great help to my knowledge if someone could explain this to me i've got no knowledge on bikes this is my first bike and id like to learn!!!

going to pick my bike in the evening
    Thanks alot

Buddy i don't know the exact reason and i never found this problem. one thing i found in some(my freinds) FZ's is the engine kill switch doesn't work properly, some loose contact issues... anyways check the problem is solved after the service... you can also put a query in the Motorcylce Ownership Experience>Yamaha FZ16 thread...

can be a faulty kill switch, or failing CDI unit. Go with the kill switch first, then switch to your iginition switch ( where the key goes ) and then go to the CDI.

what do you mean by kill switch??? anyway.... i got my bike back from the service it seems to be fine for now... and i noticed its got more pickup and power now but the sound of the beat from the exhaust seems to be less but the bike feels powerful and smoother

Bro,, The switch which is present near the accelerator and is in red colour is called as Kill switch... It is an easiest way to shut down your engine... Your bike gained that much power and pickup because the SVC guys change your Engine oil,Oil filter, clean your Air filter,Clean your sparkplugs etc...
