i went somedays back to get my bike serviced i asked the people there to please clean the chain of the my 220 and as usual bajaj they said it will be cleaned while washing and again as usual it was not and as i know the reputation of bajaj at their service center i choosed not to bother them again for it i thought i would rather do it myself so just for my doubts asked the probiking incharge their how to clean the chain so he told me that i should use kerosene or diesel which usual i know that he asked me to 90 number wala oil warna iski rings fool jayegi so my question is the bold what is this 90 number wala oil and what did he meant by uski rings fool jayegi???

sorry mods for any mistake in this help me question

    Query approved.

The P220s have O-ring chains that have rubber O-ring into their metal rollers. So if you use wrong material to clean the chain, the chain will absorb that material and would swell, rendering it useless.

don't know what that 90 number wala oil is though!

Motul Chain clean cans are available for around 480 bucks. Try sourcing them from Motul distributors. They also have the Chain Lube which retails for around 450 bucks. Both these cans are aerosol based, so its easy to use. Just point and spray.

Edit - i havent yet used my chain clean can, but the lube, i've used it some 5-6 times and i've still got quite a bit left. A can of chain lube should last at least 10-12 instances of use.

I dunno if this helps, but if i try breaking down the costs....

Cost of the can ~500 bucks. Lasts around 10 usages. Each use = 50 bucks. Cheaper than the service center.

SAE 90 oil is used for lubrication while diesel may be used for cleaning prior to the lubrication. I use diesel for cleaning and Castrol SAE 90 oil for lubrication. Bajaj recommends OKS 450/451 lubrication spray. Method of chain lubrication is aptly illustrated in the user manual itself.

SAE90 gear oil is recomended by HH in my user-manual for chain lubrication. I got HP EP90 gear oil from HP petrol-pump , Rs 75 for a half-litre canister . It works very nicely , my chain is wet and clean
since the last 500km when i checked . Get any sae90/ep90 grade gear
oil from a petrol pump and apply with oil-can . That's your 90 wala oil
