    RTO Norms - Help required

    Hi! All,

    I am originally from Kolkata but staying here in pune for a while. I am staying in a shared row house in a society here in pune. I want to purchase a new bike but the RTO people here say that I must have an address proof of pune only. Is that right?? I have all my other documents ready like my passport, pan car...d & even my driving license. All of them have my address of kolkata. Can a resident of kolkata not purchase a bike in Pune???

    Please advise . .

      Do you have an rent agreement of that flat. You can use that as the proof. Get a xerox of that agreement, and a telephone or a electricity bill of that house.Ask the dealer for help.They have sources.

      And please use regular font and not highlight them or BOLD.We all can read here!!! Use Bold only to highlight some thing very important .

        Exact info.... Rent agreement and the electricity of phone bill....along with your docs like passport etc.

          Yes you can get. Get an affidavit signed from a notary public & that should cost you anywhere between Rs 100 - 200; the dealers themselves will arrange for it, not sure why they haven't mentioned this option to you.

          If they don't, approach a notary public & request him for an affidavit with address proof. If you approach him directly, ensure that you go with some known source; means, do not approach the notary as total stranger, take a common friend known to you as well as notary public.

          Like both the guys above said, having a rent agreement under your name will speak for itself with notary public & avoid unnecessary questions.

            One more document: Written letter from your recruiter saying you are working in Pune office. Atleast I was asked for the same.

              buying a bike is easier then getting your DL man.

              Do as aargee said. A affidavit is more then enough.
