Its good to find a collector's thread at Xbhp. Just adds to the like mindedness. Seeing as we are all on the 'same page' (no pun intended
) I have a few things i would like to know from you:-1. Care regime that you follow for cleaning of your die cast collection (moving parts and interiors for die cast cars)
2. Ideas about Display shelves/ Cabinets if you have set you collection on one. (Just put up Pics)
3. Whether anyone has tried making dioramas (kindly provide First hand DIY instructions please)
4. Repainting instructions, if any one has tried on the die cast themselves.
Now i know i will find much of the info out there online. But a first hand info from someone will be more in detail and also will have more Do's and Dont's. I have a diecast car collection of not more than 25 cars at present (and its been growing steadily). I have finally got a place in house where i can permanently display them. Hence i am looking out for ideas for the same.
Cleaning and Shining:-
Also all the cars are currently (and at all times) packed, but some of them didnt come with their own cardboard box with display window and all and hence have gathered stubborn dust. And I am apprehensive about using anything to clean them except for moist soft cloth, hand pumped blower where needed, worn old tooth brush. I used MIN Creme polish earlier on a diecast car and it gave good shine but over the time the decals faded. Also our automotive polishes mostly warn on not to use on decals and stuff, so any ideas here too would be most appreciated.
Photography:-
I see many of you have put put really nice pics with the right perspective, backdrop, forced perspective and exactly right amount of lighting. (Pardon usage of Hindi) In logo se meri vinanti hai, please ye aapke scale model bike/car ke pic ke sath, aapne photography ka setup kis prakaar kiya tha is baat ki tasveere bhi upload kare
.Please also upload pics of the setup you used, or Ideas for setting up the model for a good photo too would be helpful!.
Re-painting:-
Some of the models which i have would really look nice in their flagship colors or with racing stripes hence for that i need re painting instructions. I checked a few on Instructables and WikiHow, but i always prefer to hear from someone who has actually tried it.
