Why doesn't the 1:18 sized models come fitted with RVMs? Are their quality inferior? I have no idea since I haven't seen one up-close. The 1:12 ones that I do own are from Maesto and those are exquisitely detailed. What about the manufacturer of the 1:18 models?? Isn't it Maesto?Originally posted by kriss View PostOne of the reasons why i love 1:12 models

No Aryan. I dont think it is to do with the size. Maisto itself does make RVMs for some of their 1:18 models, while some dont have. Besides, the 1:18 made by Maisto may cost about Rs 300, while the same model with much more finer details and heavier material (mostly made for OE manufacturers like BMW, Discovery channel etc) are sold for about Rs 4,000 a piece. Their details are much more precise and mostly made of metal as against plastic used by Maisto or Welly etc.

Kriss its pretty obvious that detailing can be on the better side when you have bigger canvas to play with, and its this cbr only which doesnt have rvms, i also have a cbr 600 which do have rvms and number of other 1:18 which have rvms.Originally posted by kriss View PostOne of the reasons why i love 1:12 models
This is not a general thing with 1:18 aryan, it is this piece specifically which dont have rvms, no quality is second to none, e.g the RUNE's model is so neat that it can give a real one run for its money in looks department.Originally posted by Aryan View PostWhy doesn't the 1:18 sized models come fitted with RVMs? Mainly scale models are available from two brands Maisto & Newray, maisto is way ahead in terms quality and finish from Newray, all of my models are maisto except the ninja 10 r.

Pics: Picasa Web Albums - Vasanth - Miniature World
Sorry about the pic quality, have taken the pics using N73's cam, Haven't found time to do a proper shoot out with my Camera. Will definitely do a proper shoot out some time and post pics.
Most recent additions:
RC Suzuki GSX R 1000 - 1:9 scale (with a rider thrown in free :P , does wheelies and burnouts :P)
RC Hummer H3 1:16
Humvee 1:18
MV Augusta F4 - Assembly Kit - 1:12
I prefer 1:12 scale models for bikes, got only one 1:18 Bike
My favourites in the collection:
BMWGS1200 Assembly Kit - 1:12
Fiat Yamaha 2008 MotoGp replica - 1:10
Ducati Stoner MotoGP replica - 1:10
Most of these were picked up from Shoppers stop/Coupons/Westside outlets and recently From Modelart in Forum and Saphire toys near garuda mall in bangalore.
Will post up in detail some other day

@ vaas2000. Nice collection there and good to see the step by step assembly of the GSA & MV.
I had heard a lot about modelart in Forum and went there, but I was not too impressed with the bike collection although they have some exotic cars. Surprisingly, I found some really nice bike models like Cagiva, New Triumph Daytonas, Aprillia RSV, Kawi Vulcan 2000 etc (All 1:18 scale) at Ramdev Toys & Novelties on Thipssandra main road.

Is this news any good for the model collectors amongst us?
Source: The Times of IndiaIndia lifts import ban on Chinese toys
NEW DELHI: India on Monday lifted the ban on importing toys from China provided they conform to international safety norms. India had earlier on January 23 banned the import of Chinese toys for six months on grounds of public health and safety.
According to a public notice by the Commerce Ministry, the import of toys from China will be allowed if they conform to the standards prescribed in "ASTM F963" or "ISO 8124 (parts I - III) or IS 9873 (parts I - III)".These regulations primarily deal with safety and health hazards.
The government further said that the imports from China will have to be accompanied by a requisite certificate from laboratories accredited to the International Laboratory Accreditation Cooperation. Following the restrictions on toys, the Chinese media had reported that Beijing was contemplating dragging India to the WTO challenging the ban. However, commerce and industry minister Kamal Nath had said the ban was WTO-compatible.
The toys market in India is estimated at Rs 2,500 crore while the volume-driven, price-competitive Chinese toys are estimated to control 70 percent of the global toys market.Last edited by Aryan; 03-02-2009, 04:37 PM.:)
