          • Hi all!!
I'm new to scale model collection, can anyone help me. i have some questions:
            1. what is the ideal size of these models(1:18,1:24 etc)?
            2. which size has sufficient details,at the same time easy on the pocket?
(i intend to keep bikes as well as cars, preferably all of same size)
            3. which brand is good and what is the price range?

Guys please help me out i'm totally new to scale models

I personally prefer 1:18 scale as its not too small so you can fit lot more bikes into your showcase, 1:18 scale is reasonably detailed and relatively affordable. Maisto & Welly are the commonly available brands and have a fairly large collection in this scale. In my 1:18 collection the costliest I paid was for the OCC Jet bike at US$ 40, otherwise most of the other bikes are between Rs. 150-300 each

BTW, you can also visit the Indian scale model collectors forum:

No idea on cars. I am only into bike model collection & that itself eats lots of money and space at home!

                        Which brands do you buy?
I checked out some 1:18 bikes from MAISTO and i wasn't really impressed by it's build quality. Found the car models much better in terms of detail and quality.

I agree Maisto's finish may not be the best, but they have a large range in 1:18 and comparatively are less expensive than most others (BTW, the maisto 1:12 finish is much better as the models are bigger in size). I buy from an assortment of many brands and from different countries. Brands include maisto, welly, fastlane, minichamps, RC2 etc. Some of the harley-davidson & BMW merchandise are made by maisto but their finish is beautiful, but much co$tlier! Anyways, majority of my collection is maisto & I am fine with them. You can see it here:

For such a detailed model, is it a 1:12 or 1:10 scale? Whats the price?
