stacking is actually blending different images together.if i went light drawing all three segments, then the single shot would have been white.so 3 sections of light drawing,ie random movement, and then blend these under photoshop.Originally posted by abhijeet080808 View PostI am not sure I got you.
Can you please explain the "stacking them together" part?!
u can do this in CS4 where,
1.do load files in stack option.
2.browse and load files.select align images.
3.when it loads all images, select all layers.
4.go to edit>auto blend layers.
5.under that, select seamless colors and tones.
6.wait for it to do the job.
7.your stacked shot is ready.
this way long exposure shots can be stacked eliminating exposure noise and hot pixels if any.stacked option of 30secs of 3shots sometimes give better results than a single 90sec shot.since the sensor was exposed for 30sec per shot.so invariably less long exposure noise.
this technique can be simultaneously used for DOF like in macros.
more on that here.
STACKING in MACRO. - The Global Indian Photographer
other software that support this technique is startrails and helicon focus.
hope it helps.

HDR and stacking are different.Originally posted by abhijeet080808 View PostOk.. thanks for the detailed explanation. Its something similar to HDR photography. Will try it out and see.
HDR deals with the dynamic range.thats why minimum 3 different shots with 3 different EV values.normally -1 0 +1 and beyond.
stacking deals with the blend part.the exposure is the same.the components of the layers differs from one other.30sec 3 shots will have the same exposure value for all the 3 shots in the stack option.for HDR that 30 may be 30 for 0 15 for negative and 40 for positive..just an example.
another method is composting.the ones where one person is shown multiple times in a shot.
for you to try out, just take a torch, choose some subject and take 3 shots illuminating different parts of it.be careful not to overlap light otherwise it will burn.then try the stacking part.you will come to know the advantage.
