    Also, one important point I would like to know is - are you using flash to click the motion blur? Because if you are, then turn it OFF! Flash will almost always FREEZE the motion and will not capture it like you wish to.

      ^ No, i didnt use the Flash that time..!

      And, secondly i tried in both the Manual mode(for setting the shutter speed) and the automatic modes..

        Automatic mode is pure crap! Either use 'Shutter Priority' or 'Manual'. There are some people who also swear by the Auto mode, but atleast for me, it is pretty useless until and unless the sole purpose of your clicking is JUST to capture the moment.

                  As promised Inder, here is a picture clicked while the fan was rotating at full speed. It can be captured even better, but tis was clicked just for illustrative purposes.

                  EXIF:

                  Aperture: f5.6
                  Shutter Speed:1/6 seconds
                  Focal Length: 50mm
                  ISO: 200

                      The ball is out of focus. Are you using Focus and Recompose technique? If no, then google it. If yes, then practice more .
