today i have read lots of issues about K & N filters. for eg. one guy installed it and one day found in middle of his ride that his piston is blown up and stuck in head and crank is also messed up. they checed that no oil is left in engine and lots of Dirt inside found.
Also same thing happened with my co worker. his head of CBZ was blast due to K & N filter and found lots of dirt inside.
well they all are universal one.

now i know its stock replacement but still it takes more air and dirt as well.
so guys any suggestion. because i love to keep this but love my engine too.
Yeah very rare cases it may happen if they did not clean the air filter in proper interval or if they did not install it properly to me K&n is one of the best Air filter, It has its reputation.

Using this flter Ba 2201 Am pretty sure there wont any issues the reason behind its just a stock replacement but make sure You clean the filter in proper interval and also using the K&n cleaning kit.

    Cheers bro

superb bro is it available for pulsar 150 ? You said it doesn't have the roaring sound like the universal ones , but have you felt any difference when comparing stock sound ? If yes , then a revving video would be much appreciated

Re: Review And How to Install new K&N[BA-2201] For Pulsar

              Hello brothers,

I am also looking for changing my stock air filter with BA2201. But I have few questions on the working of K&N filter. The function of an air filter is to filter out impurities to the maximum extent possible. A good air filter that filters well, will create a small restriction to the air flow to an engine. The K&N free flow filters seek to remove this restriction through filters made of oil dipped cotton gauze and wire mesh. In case of K&N universal filters that fit directly onto the carburetor, the air flow is quite high as the filtration is compromised greatly. Now increasing air supply to the engine while not increasing fuel supply, engine will run lean, thereby running hotter with higher engine wear after a certain threshold. So is it actually better than the stock air filter?

Does this help in changing performance and FE?

K&N filters, by virtue of increasing the air flow to the engine result in the air flow mixture becoming leaner. Therefore, it isn’t unusual to find people using K&N filter actually claiming increase in mileage of an engine. Adding a K&N free flow air filter into the equation will only make the air fuel ratio leaner, thus affecting engine life adversely. So in this case if one is looking for performance doesn't he need up jetting?

I have read people both satisfied and dis satisfied using K&N filter. I am also looking for it , but have some questions in my mind as posted above.

Re: Review And How to Install new K&N[BA-2201] For Pulsar

Dear friends, I feel the need to contribute in this thread. I bought K&N BA-2201 for my Pulsar 150 DTSi (2010) model recently. And believe me friends, it was the most stupid upgrade (downgrade would be the proper word) I ever considered for my bike!!!! I used this filter in my bike for a week, and from the day one my bike was getting problems with pick-up and acceleration!! I faced all the opposite issues to what people generally report as advantages of this filter. The nightmare ended instantly when I tried my stock Bajaj Air-filter again after getting it cleaned thoroughly.

I bought this filter as well as its cleaning kit trusting on the brand name but to my surprise everything went opposite of what people generally report. Trust me, don't waste your time and money on this filthy piece of so called air-filter. My bike's performance reduced drastically when it was in my bike and improved a great deal again with my stock one.

I just don't know what the actual problem was but it just didn't worked well for me.

I am an avid biker myself and love my bike like crazy and I don't want to lose my engine's performance by any means. I regularly use Motul 300V 15W50 as engine oil for my bike, this alone is the best upgrade for Pulsar series. Everything else could potentially damage the Pulsar Series' performance!!!!

                  Hey Guys,

Am Gonna review about the new k&n airfilter which is launched specially for Pulsar.

                  K&N Airfilter Model:BA-2201
                  Bike Used:Pulsar 220 Dts-i
                  Km Done Before Installation:10200 km

To Start with always purchase k&n Airfilters from the respective dealers. It's been Three months since the new k&n airfilter launched for pulsar and I just waited eagerly to get my hands on new model. Before launching this filter
People used to put universal model[Starts with Rc] But the problem is we need to retune our bike and need to increase the jet size which is not easy thing to do, Because already p220 comes with biggest jet size. so I dropped the plan putting
universal filter. After they launched the new model there is a lot discussion in xbhp that whether we need to retune our bike after installing or its just kinda plug and play[But in K&n webiste its clearly mentioned we dont need to retune our ride].
Still there is a lot of controversial Discussion that its mandatory to Retune our bike.

After Finishing My third service decided to get a K&n and Ngk spark Plugs,And also I consulted With PBK service manager Mr.Gopal Regarding the new model and he seems to be pretty excited and said there is no need to Retune our Bike. For to be in
safer side I asked many local mechanics from Pbk showroom And all I get is positive answers From them. After Finishing My service Directly Went to K&n dealer and Purchased the new filter and also Ngk plugs.Came back home Very excited about that and started
Installing it and the good thing about this will take jus 10min to install very easy all u need to do remove the Default one and replace it with K&n.

After installing Me and my bro were very excited started our Bike first thing I noticed end up with disappointment AIRFILTER symbol Pops-up,Second thing I noticed also endup with disappointment No K&n Roar, But I know we cant expect that since its a replacement for Stock
Filter.Took our ride from Garage went for Short ride. Wow so much difference 1st- 2nd- 3rd gear we can rev freely, Pickup also improved still am not convinced because always when we use custom filter we can see the difference not only k&n any custom filter.
so still I kinda feel disappointment spending 2300 rs for this filter installed the Ngk spark plugs BANG ON when we start the bike, Started with One click and we can feel our ride tone in positive way, Took my cam and went for little ride in our gst Higways Wow now I can
see hell lot of difference Vibration kinda reduced and from 60km to 90km it revs so smooth and the bike tone also changed little Bit overall Kinda 50 percent satisfied.Came back Home call the K&n dealer and asked about the Airfilter symbol popsup he said thats normal sir,
we cannot do anything myself kinda pissed off again remove the filter, tried to install again same issue and my bro said no other way we need unplug the airfilter sensor wire so we unplugged and we both stare at each other.

I rode more than 600km With K&N All I can say, You can enjoy the difference and when you want to rev your bike it shows the output.

Let me tell u clearly am not good at maths but still I will try,When you change your gear under 4rpm and in sudden if u want to rev your bike

You can Feel 1.0 Lag = Throttle response
After installing K&N 0.2 Lag = Throttle response
When You Throttle You can feel the crisp for Example when We do a Pickup test 0 to 60km we loose against all 150cc bike after 60km only we can show our power but after installing k&N you can cope up with all 150cc bike becuse of the
Quick throttle response,[Kinda similar to rtr]There wont be any lag OMG Am I speaking like computer Geek :P

I Did The speed test in PM Bypass jus normal gear change under 6rpm and I can go upto 140km but I can try more than that but for strange reason I slowed Down.overall You can feel the Difference and will get the desire output You will get Disappoint If your looking
for k&n roar, No There wont be any, So Guys it's upto You whether You need to spend 2300rs for this filter,But I suggest Go for IT..

Regarding NGK Spark plugs: You guys already seen lots of reviews make sure for P220 Dts-i Left Side:crx9 series Right Side:crx8 series, And when I spoke with Sriram[ID:sriramefunds] chennai Xbhpian, He said it is not necessary to go for this kinda expensive plugs
stock is more than enough or we can go for Bosch, will cost 150rs for each plug. But I already Bought so I didnt say anywords about that to him Hee

NOTE: Do not use universal Filter especially for Pulsar 220.
